اعزائى المشاركيين فى هذه المدونة .. اليكم جميعا تحياتى الخالصة .. بالامس كان الذكرى الثالثة للاغتيال غزة !!

واعترف ان هناك تقصير لا مبرر له منى على عدم المتابعة ولكن لعل فى التذكرى هذه المرة احياءا للقضية التى تؤرق الجميع

رجاءا ان نتشارك جميعا فى اسناد اهل غزة مرة اخرى .. لا استطيع ان انسى كم كان الموقف رائعا والملحمة الجميلة فى امساندة اهلنا فى غزة رغم كل شئ .. وكانت الكلمة والتبرعات سلاحنا .. واعتقد ان اثارة القضية فى الاجواء الاقل توترا .. سيكون اداء الكثيرين افضل بكثير

دمشق (رويترز) - قال مسؤول في حركة المقاومة الاسلامية/حماس/ يوم السبت ان الحركة تحتفظ بالحق في مواصلة مقاومة اسرائيل "بكل الوسائل" اذا لم تتبع اسرائيل وقف اطلاق النار بالانسحاب من غزة ورفع الحصار عن القطاع.

وأضاف علي بركة نائب زعيم حماس في العاصمة السورية"ان وقف اطلاق النار من جانب واحد لا يعني وقف العدوان على الشعب الفلسطيني في قطاع غزة ان للعدوان اشكال متعددة .

"اذا لم يتم سحب قوات الاحتلال من غزة وانهاء الحصار وفتح المعابر بما فيها معبر رفح فان وقف اطلاق النار الذي اعلن عنه اولمرت لا يكفي وهذا ما يعطي الحق للشعب الفلسطيني لمواصلة مقاومته بكافة اشكالها .

بعد فشله في إخضاع الأحياء ..الاحتلال يقصف مقابر غزة

في مؤشر واضح على فشله في عدوانه المستمر على غزة منذ اكثر من ثمانية عشر يوما، أقدم الاحتلال الصهيوني على ارتكاب جريمة جديدة بقصفه، اليوم الاربعاء، مقبرة الشهداء بغزة، ما أسفر عن تناثر أشلاء الموتى وتحطم عدد من المقابر.

ولم تكن تلك هي الجريمة الأولى التي يرتكبها الاحتلال بحق جثامين الشهداء، فقد أكد شهود عيان فلسطينيون أن الاحتلال الصهيوني يقوم باستخدام كلاب مدربة يتم إطلاقها على جثث الشهداء للتمثيل بها.

وذكر الشهود أنه وفي جباليا، شمال قطاع غزة، وعندما همت عائلة عبد ربه بدفن ثلاثة من شهدائها، انهمرت عليهم رصاصات الموت، فاضطروا إلى ترك الجثث قليلا، وفجأة أطلقت قوات الاحتلال "الإسرائيلية" المتمركزة هناك كلابها التى أخذت تنهش في جسد الشهداء وتهشم عظامهم وتنهش لحومهم.

أما في حي الزيتون شرق غزة، فقد أكدت العديد من العائلات أن قوات الاحتلال تطلق كلابها لترويع الأطفال والنساء ولتنال من جثامين الشهداء وتشوهها.

على صعيد متصل، وفي مؤشر إلى العدد الكبير للشهداء في غزة جراء العدوان الصهيوني البربري، علقت لافتة على السور الخارجي لمقبرة الشيخ رضوان أكبر المقابر في مدينة غزة، كتب عليها "المقبرة ممتلئة"، ما يعني عدم إمكان دفن المزيد من الضحايا بها.

ونقلت وكالة "رويترز" للأنباء عن شاهد عيان قوله: "جُبنا مقابر المدينة، ولكن لم نتمكن من العثور على مكان ندفن فيه ابن عمي.. هل تصدقون هذا؟!".

ولجأ أقارب الشهداء إلى حفر القبور بأنفسهم، لأنه ليس هناك حفارو قبور بشكل كاف حاليا في غزة لتلبية الطلب المتزايد على دفن ضحايا الهجمات البربرية علة غزة.

وكان بيان لمؤسسة الضمير لحقوق الإنسان بعنوان "حرب إسرائيل بلا أخلاق والاحتلال يضرب بكل المواثيق عرض الحائط"، قد أكد أن "نداءات وشهادات لا يستوعبها الخيال تصل المؤسسة في كل ساعة"، مشيرة إلى أنها تعمل حاليا على تجميع وتوثيق كافة الشهادات والمعلومات لتقديمها إلى محكمة العدل الدولية لمحاكمة قادة إسرائيل لما ارتكبوه من جرائم بحق الإنسانية.

وشددت المؤسسة في بيانها على أن "ما تخبئه البيوت وأزقة الشوارع من قصص مروعة وكارثية ومشاهد دامية سيتكشف أكثر بعد أن تنتهي الحرب الدائرة رحاها بعنف".

Call for Immediate Truce Fails to Halt Fighting in Gaza

There were fierce battles in Gaza on Friday as Hamas and Israel both rejected a United Nations call for an immediate cease-fire. The densely populated area faces shortages of food, medicine, water and electric power.
Smoke from Israeli strikes rises above the Gaza Strip on FridayIsrael says its air and ground attacks are targeting only Hamas-related targets. It blames the Palestinian group for positioning fighters and rockets in civilian areas.
Hamas continued to fire rockets into southern Israel. A Hamas leader said in Damascus that the call for a truce would mean a surrender. But he also said Hamas was preparing to send a delegation to Cairo to further discuss an Egyptian peace plan.
The United States did not vote on the cease-fire resolution passed Thursday by the Security Council. American officials say they want to see the results of the Egyptian efforts.
Friday, the top U.N. human rights official called for an independent investigation into possible war crimes by both sides in the conflict. Navi Pillay, in Geneva, criticized Hamas leaders for the harm caused to Israeli civilians by rocket fire. And she warned against the use of people in Gaza as human shields.
At the same time, she deplored Israeli strikes against clearly marked U.N. buildings where civilians were taking shelter. The United Nations temporarily suspended aid operations in Gaza Thursday after Israeli fire killed the driver of an aid truck.
Gaza medical officials say more than eight hundred Palestinians have been killed. About half, they say, have been women and children. At least thirteen Israelis have been killed, including at least nine soldiers. Hamas rockets have hit farther inside Israel than before. Fighting continued Saturday.
A six-month cease-fire negotiated by Egypt ended on December nineteenth. Israel, facing rocket attacks, began its offensive two weeks ago.
Israel says it has no plans to permanently reoccupy Gaza. It ended a thirty-eight year occupation of the narrow strip along the Mediterranean coast in two thousand five. Hamas captured control of Gaza from the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority in two thousand seven.
Hamas is supported by Iran and Syria. It was formed in nineteen eighty-seven. Israel, the United States and the European Union consider it a terrorist group.
Hamas aims to destroy Israel and has killed hundreds of Israelis. Yet it developed partly as a result of Israeli support for the idea of a Muslim religious group as a balance against Fatah under Yasser Arafat.
The Bush administration has blamed Hamas for inciting the latest violence. President-elect Barack Obama says he is concerned about the violence in Gaza. But he says it would not be right for him to speak at length about the conflict until he takes office on January twentieth.
BARACK OBAMA: "We cannot have two administrations running foreign policy at the same time. We simply cannot do it. And so as a consequence, what I am doing is I am being briefed consistently, my national security team is fully up to speed on it. But the situation of domestic policy making and foreign policy making are two different things."

3 صواريخ من لبنان تصيب كريات شمونة واسرائيل ترد بـ4 قذائف

أعلن ناطق باسم الشرطة الاسرائيلية أن 3 صواريخ انطلقت من لبنان، الاربعاء 14-1-2009، وسقطت على منطقة كريات شمونة في الجليل الأعلى، بدون أن تسبب اصابات أو أضرار. وأشار مصدر أمني في المنطقة الحدودية الاسرائيلية أن الصواريخ انطلقت من قرية "الهبارية" في منطقة العرقوب، غرب بلدة شبعا التي تبعد 4 كيلومترات عن الحدود.

وسريعاً ردت اسرائيل بإطلاق 4 قذائف مدفعية على المنطقة نفسها، بينها اثنتان سقطتا في الماري غرب بلدة الغجر الحدودية. وقد وضع الجيش اللبناني وحداته في حال تأهب قصوى وكذلك قوات اليونيفل، بينما أكد شهود عيان لبنانيون سماعهم دوي انفجارات في شمال إسرائيل.

وقال ناطق عسكري اسرائيلي ان الدفاع المدني دعا السكان الى البقاء قرب الملاجىء او في غرف محمية.

وتعد هذه المرة الثانية من نوعها التي يتعرض لها شمال إسرائيل لإطلاق صواريخ من جنوب لبنان، منذ بدء العملية العسكرية على قطاع غزة قبل 19 يوما، حيث أطلقت 3 صواريخ قبل ذلك. ويرجح أن الفاعل مسلحون يرغبون في إبداء دعمهم للنشطاء الفلسطينيين في معركتهم مع القوات الاسرائيلية فى غزة.

The international group Human Rights Watch is accusing Israel of firing weapons containing white phosphorus into Gaza. HRW said the use of white phosphorus in Gaza would violate "the requirement under international humanitarian law to take all feasible precautions to avoid civilian injury and loss of life. Israel is declining to say whether bursts like this over Gaza involve white phosphorus. It's known that Israel previously used white phosphorus during its war with Lebanon in 2006. JERUSALEM, CNN

White phosphorus has a significant, incidental, incendiary effect that can severely burn people and set structures, fields, and other civilian objects in the vicinity on fire. The potential for harm to civilians is magnified by Gaza's high population density, among the highest in the world. If you move this chemical with your feet, it reignites. You can't put it out with water, only sand. Those characteristics match the properties of white phosphorus, which ignites on contact with air.

Israel experience new weapon in Gaza

The Norway team of doctors in Gaza Norwac declared "they have suspicions that may be evidences that Israeli army is using a new generation of bombs from the kind is called DIME". These bombs is consists of carbon and heavy metals specially Tangestin. These bombs invade bodies in range of 5 to 10 meters. It is continuously burning inside bodies leading to death. JERUSALEM (AFP) – US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was left shame-faced after President George W. Bush ordered her to abstain in a key UN vote on the Gaza war, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Monday.

"She was left shamed. A resolution that she prepared and arranged, and in the end she did not vote in favour," Olmert said in a speech in the southern town of Ashkelon.

The UN Security Council passed a resolution last Thursday calling for an immediate ceasefire in the three-week-old conflict in the Gaza Strip and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza where hundreds have been killed.

Fourteen of the council's 15 members voted in favour of the resolution, which was later rejected by both Israel and Hamas.

The United States, Israel's main ally, had initially been expected to voted in line with the other 14 but Rice later became the sole abstention.

"In the night between Thursday and Friday, when the secretary of state wanted to lead the vote on a ceasefire at the Security Council, we did not want her to vote in favour," Olmert said.

"I said 'get me President Bush on the phone'. They said he was in the middle of giving a speech in Philadelphia. I said I didn't care. 'I need to talk to him now'. He got off the podium and spoke to me.

"I told him the United States could not vote in favour. It cannot vote in favour of such a resolution. He immediately called the secretary of state and told her not to vote in favour."

Bush has consistently placed the blame for the conflict on Hamas, telling reporters on Monday that while he wanted to see a "sustainable ceasefire" in Gaza, it was up to Hamas to choose to end its rocket fire on Israel.

What Justice in that world !! .. these words are the most sympathizing with Lebnon after the last 8-days of Zulke’da and the first days of Zulhijja 1416 .. when the Israeli bombardment continued killing infants including a female child of 3 days old !! , young teenagers , youth mothers and unarmed civilians of villages who fled the rule of the United States 18/4/1996 , perceiving the possibility of protection from the blind hatred to the the enemies of God, the polluters of the “blessed” land as the Holy Qur’an informs.

Today is like yesterday, the same bloody day in Gaza before the eyes and the ears of the world, regarding that nothing can be done by the international community except being in the shameful silence and finding an excuse for the State of the Zionist occupation, which despite its battleships and lethal weapons and reactors internationally banned and forbidden, are concerned about a small thorn worries their comfort named : Hezbollah and Hamas ! As that Arab Activists don’t have the same parallel right and more than that of Europe and The USA which drove their enemies and their settlers who are against their rights !! Is that their Justice ?! they have the right to fight and we have to get unarmed and just get angry about what that wild savage Zionist stupid Gorilla !! Because we don’t let it Violates our rights ??

How can we ask Criminals to be just ?

Our lands gets Violated , our children are murdered under the name of “the wolf is for the sheep!!” under the name of securing the Zionist occupation, settling its stoles and continuing its raids when and how the USA, the European Union and their supporters will !!

On the other hand when people resist for defending under any considerations or slogans, including any fighter for God’s sake, the international community condemns them and lets them go to their hell guided by the teachings of utilitarian philosophy which is donated and directed by the USA as its faith and the best way to prevail the whole wold. Unfortunately and surprising that some people among us can be heard insulting themselves and ourselves in a satisfactory state of appalling self-torture instead of arising against the aggressors.

When the Egyptian poet “Hafez Ibrahim” said; “Is that justice to let their lion and to chain mine?” he meant the English Occupation Authority which imprisoned and suppressed the Egyptian resistors , and nowadays the USA is the Occupation Authority of all the world and it doesn’t let any lions only lets the feral dogs , while all the Arab and Muslim lions are chained in cages accused of “resisting” after it was named by “terrorism”. Won’t we open our eyes and differentiate between the justice and the injustice? Or will we still let these affairs in the wise men’s hands repeating after Imam Ali bin Abi Talib a piece of poem of Durid ibn El Samma [Hawazen’s brother]: “I’ve made all what I can to advice you..but you don’t recognize my advice except when tomorrow becomes today!”

منذ سنوات ياسادة،بالتحديد سنة 1416هـ.\ 1996مـ.، وقف المسيو جاك شيراك ليقول بحنو بالغ: "لابد أن يلقي حزب الله سلاحه" حتى يتوقف القصف الحيواني الغاشم الذي تصبه دولة الإحتلال إسرائيل على الجنوب اللبناني.هذا كان كلام أشد الناس مودة للعرب وللبنان. دولة الإحتلال الدخيلة المعتدية تجمع السلاح عيانا بيانا من كل مكان ويكون معها العذر كل العذر وعلى الضحايا أن ينزعوا سلاحهم ويجرموا مقاوميهم ليكفوا عن المقاومة! ماشاء الله! هذا ياسادة كان أكثر الكلام تعاطفا مع لبنان بعد مذابح الأيام الثمانية الأخيرة من ذي القعدة والأيام المدخل إلى ذي الحجه 1416 حين استمر القصف الصهيوني المسعور يقتل الأطفال الرضع ،منهم طفلة عمرها ثلاثة أيام، والصبايا والأمهات الشابات والمدنيين أهل القرى العزل الذين لاذوا بقاعدة للأمم المتحدة، 18\4\1996، متصورين إمكانية حمايتها لهم من الحقد الأعمى للأبالسة والشياطين أعداء الله وعار البشرية الأنجاس الملوثين للأرض التي وصفها القرآن الكريم بـ "المباركة". ماأشبه يومنا الدامي في غزة ببارحتنا ، فهاهي المذابح تخزق الأعين وليس على فم المجتمع الدولي الغربي الأوروبي \الأمريكي سوى تلمس العذر لدولة الإحتلال الصهيوني التي، رغم بوارجها ومفاعلاتها وأسلحتها الفتاكه المحرمة دوليا، تعاني من شوكة صغيرة تقلق راحتها اسمها: مقاومة حزب الله وحماس! كأن أقمار المقاومة العربية ليسوا أصحاب حق مواز، وأكثر، لحق المقاومة الأوربية والأمريكية التي تصدت لمحتليها وأعداء حقوقها. هذا هو عدلهم: لهم حق المقاومة ولنا الإجبار على إلقاء السلاح وأكل عناقيد غضب الغوريللا الصهيونية الغبية المتوحشة الهائجة لأننا لا نتركها تغتصبنا وتلتهمنا في خنوع وسكوت الموتى والحفريات!

كيف نرجو العدل من أيدي الجناة ياسادة؟

بلادنا تنتهك وأطفالنا يذبحون بحجة الذئب للحمل، بدعوى تأمين الإحتلال الصهيوني وتمكينه من الإحتفاظ بسرقاته ومواصلة غاراته متى شاء وكيف شاء وشاء له هوى كبار المجرمين واللصوص في الإدارة الأمريكية والإتحاد الأوروبي وتوابعهم، وحين تنهض مقاومة الناس للدفاع ،تحت أي لافتة فكل مقاوم في سبيل الحق هو من حزب الله وحماس، يستحل ذلك المسمى المجتمع الدولي القذر ذبحها وإهدار دمها مسترشدا بتعاليم الفلسفة اللادينية النفعية المنحطة التي تعتمدها أمريكا عقيدتها المثلى وتسود بها على العالمين. والمدهش أن البعض منا بدلا من أن يهتاجوا ضد المعتدين تسمعهم يسبون أنفسهم وأنفسنا في حالة مرضية مزرية من تعذيب الذات.

حين قال الشاعر حافظ ابراهيم:"أمن الحق أنهم يطلقون الأسد منهم\ وأن تقيد أسدي؟" ،كان يعني سلطة الإحتلال الإنجليزي التي كانت تسجن وتنفي وتقمع أبناء وطننا المحتل، والآن أصبحت أمريكا هي سلطة إحتلال الأرض كلها وهي لاتطلق الأسد منهم بل الكلاب المسعورة بينما كل أسود الوطن العربي والإسلامي في أقفاص الإتهام مكبلة بتهمة "المقاومة" بعد أن نعتوها "إرهابا". فهل نفتح أعيننا ونرى الحق حقا والباطل باطلا أم سيظل الحتم على حكمائنا وراشدينا وألي البصر والبصيرة منا أن يرددوا وراء الإمام علي بن أبي طالب استشهاده ببيت الشاعر دريد بن الصمة (أخو هوازن): "بذلت لكم نصحي بمنعرج اللوى\ فلم تستبينوا النصح إلا في ضحى الغد"؟

"طاقية الإخفاء".. تكتيك المقاومة لتضليل إسرائيل

إطلاق الصواريخ تواصل رغم القصف الإسرائيلي العنيف لا وجود علني لرجال المقاومة في شوارع القطاع.. وسائل النقل المعروفة لم تعد تظهر.. حتى الأسلحة الخفيفة لم يعد يراها الناس في غزة.. لا تعرف أماكن الصواريخ إلا بعد إطلاقها.
تكتيك جديد شرعت كتائب القسام، الجناح المسلح لحركة المقاومة الإسلامية "حماس" وفصائل المقاومة الأخرى في اتباعه مع بدء الحرب الإسرائيلية على غزة السبت الماضي؛ لتجنب أي استهداف إسرائيلي لقيادات المقاومة الفلسطينية؛ وهو ما أطلق عليه قيادي في كتائب عز الدين القسام الجناح العسكري لحماس: تكتيك "طاقية الإخفاء".
ووفق رصد لمراسل "إسلام أون لاين.نت" في قطاع غزة، فإن شوارع غزة باتت خالية من وجود المقاومة الفلسطينية، وتوارى رجالها عن الأنظار، فيما اختفت وسائل النقل المعروفة لرجال المقاومة الفلسطينية من شوارع قطاع غزة.
ويبلغ عدد مقاتلي كتائب عز الدين القسام حوالي عشرة آلاف مقاتل منظم، وعشرة آلاف آخرين تلقوا دورات تدريبية لدى كتائب القسام هم بمثابة جيش احتياطي، حسب تقرير استخباراتي إسرائيلي نشر على موقع "الاستخبارات ومكافحة الإرهاب الإسرائيلي" قبل عدة أشهر.
وحسب مصادر طبية فلسطينية، فإن عدد الشهداء والجرحى من عناصر المقاومة الفلسطينية يعد قليلا في سادس أيام حرب كسر الإرادة الثالثة، مقارنة بعدد الشهداء المدنيين الذين سقطوا منذ بدء الحرب على غزة، باستثناء العدد الكبير من رجال الشرطة الفلسطينية الذين استشهدوا في أول يوم نتيجة المباغتة الإسرائيلية.
وارتفع عدد شهداء الغارات التي يشنها الاحتلال الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة منذ السبت 27-12-2008 حتى مساء اليوم الخميس إلى 420 شهيدا ونحو 2100 جريح.
واستشهد اليوم القيادي في حركة حماس نزار ريان بعد غارة إسرائيلية على منزله في منطقة جباليا شرق غزة، ومعروف عن ريان منذ فترة رفضه ترك منزله والاحتماء في أحد مخابئ المقاومة.
تمويه
وبات يُفاجأ سكان القطاع بانطلاق صواريخ المقاومة الفلسطينية دون أن يشاهدوا كيفية نصب منصاتها أو مكان المنصات، في محاولة للتمويه لعدم اكتشاف طائرات الاستطلاع الإسرائيلية مكان إطلاق الصواريخ.
وأطلقت كتائب القسام ما يقارب من 300 صاروخ من طراز "قسام" و"جراد" على المدن والبلدات الإسرائيلية منذ بدء العدوان الإسرائيلي على القطاع في العملية التي أطلقت عليها اسم "بقعة الزيت".
ووصلت الصواريخ إلى مدن إستراتيجية في إسرائيل مثل مدينة أشدود وبئر السبع اللتين تبعدان أكثر من 45 كيلومترا عن قطاع غزة، فيما أعلن التلفزيون الإسرائيلي أن صواريخ القسام وصلت إلى مدى 60 كيلومترا عن قطاع غزة.
" طاقية الإخفاء"
وأعلنت بلدية "تل أبيب"، التي تعتبر بمثابة العاصمة الفعلية لإسرائيل، بدء تجهيز ملاجئ المدينة؛ خشية وصول الصواريخ الفلسطينية للمدينة.
أبو معاذ -اسم مستعار لأحد القادة الميدانيين في كتائب القسام- قال لـ"إسلام أون لاين.نت": إن ما تسلكه كتائب القسام عبارة عن أسلوب "طاقية الإخفاء" لتضليل طائرات الاحتلال وعملائه، لافتا إلى أنها جزء من خطة متكاملة أعدتها كتائب القسام لحرب طويلة مع الاحتلال الإسرائيلي.
وشدد على أن طائرات الاحتلال لم تتمكن من قصف أي منصة للصواريخ منذ بدء الحرب على غزة، أو أي مكان ذي أهمية عسكرية للجناح العسكري للحركة يمكن أن يؤثر على فعلها على الأرض.
وحسب مراقبين لسير الأحداث، فإن ما فاجأ سكان القطاع أن أكثر الأهداف التي تم استهدافها من قبل الطائرات الإسرائيلية والتي كان يعتقد أنها أماكن لتخزين الصواريخ أو التصنيع العسكري لكتائب القسام، اتضح أنها فارغة من أي عتاد عسكري أو أماكن للتصنيع العسكري.
ويوضح القائد الميداني في كتائب القسام أن "المقاومة الفلسطينية كانت تتحسب لاستهداف أماكن تصنيع وتخزين صواريخ القسام، وغيرت أماكنها إلى أماكن سرية غير معروفة أو متوقعة".
وبحسب القائد القسامي، فإن المقاومة الفلسطينية تحرص من حين لآخر بإجراء عملية تدوير لأماكن تخزين وتصنيع سلاحها؛ "مما أوقع العدو الإسرائيلي في إخفاقات عبر صعوبة تحديد أماكن تخزين حركة حماس لسلاحها".
وقصفت الطائرات الإسرائيلية مئات الأهداف الفلسطينية منذ بدء عدوانها على غزة، تنوعت أهدافها ما بين المقرات الأمنية للحكومة المقالة في غزة، ومباني الوزارات، والمساجد، والجامعات، والمنازل المدنية.

ن تايمز: إسرائيل تحارب "خيال المآتة" في غزة

"حرب كاملة من الفخاخ والخداع في غزة".. لم يكن هذا الوصف الذي أطلقته صحيفة "نيويورك تايمز" الأمريكية على الحرب التي تشنها إسرائيل حاليا على قطاع غزة، لأحد القادة الفلسطينيين أو المحللين العرب، بل هو وصف إسرائيلي للحرب.
ونشرت الجريدة في عددها الصادر اليوم الأحد تقريرا مطولا لمراسلها في القدس ستيفن إيرلانجر عرض فيه بعضا من شهادات الصحفيين الإسرائيليين الذين رافقوا قوات الغزو البري الإسرائيلية إلى داخل قطاع غزة، عن الكيفية التي تقوم بها المقاومة الفلسطينية بالتصدي للتوغلات البرية الإسرائيلية؟
كما عرض التقرير التكتيكات التي تتبعها المخابرات الإسرائيلية لجمع المعلومات حول أماكن تمركز عناصر المقاومة الفلسطينية في قطاع غزة.
وروى رون بن يشاي، المراسل العسكري لصحيفة "يديعوت أحرونوت" الإسرائيلية العديد من التفاصيل المثيرة، حول الآليات التي تتبناها المقاومة الفلسطينية في العمل لضرب طوابير الغزو البري الإسرائيلي في محاور تقدمها المختلفة، وخصوصا في شمال القطاع.
ومن بين هذه التكتيكات قيام المقاومين الفلسطينيين بوضع تماثيل وهياكل عليها اللباس العسكري المميز لعناصر كتائب الشهيد عز الدين القسام، الجناح العسكري لحركة حماس، في مواقع سهلة الرصد في مداخل بعض الأبنية التي هجرها أهلها بفعل القصف العشوائي.
وعلى الإثر يقوم الجنود الإسرائيليون إما بإطلاق النار على هذه الهياكل التي تشبه "خيال المآتة"، أو محاولة الاشتباك معها عن قرب، وبالتالي يسهل قنصهم من جانب المقاومة.
في مرات أخرى قام المقاتلون الفلسطينيون بترك أكوام صغيرة من أسلحتهم في أعلى تلة في شمال غزة، وتلغيمها؛ بحيث إذا ما حاول الإسرائيليون رفعها للاستيلاء عليها أو فحصها، فإنهم يتعرضون لانفجار العبوة الناسفة التي زرعها مقاتلو المقاومة.
ويقول بن يشاي إنه في إحدى المرات كانت العبوة الناسفة ضخمة، وكان سيكون لانفجارها إذا ما وقع تأثير قاتل على الجنود الإسرائيليين، "إلا أنها لسبب ما لم تنفجر"، بحسب ما قاله "للنيويورك تايمز".
كما تتبنى كتائب المقاومة الفلسطينية حزمة أخرى من التكتيكات، مثل نشر الكمائن، وزرع العبوات الناسفة في النقاط التي يتوقع أن تتوغل منها القوات الإسرائيلية، وعلى تخوم الأحياء السكنية، وخصوصا حول مدينة غزة، وهو ما أدى إلى حصر تقدم الآليات والمدرعات الإسرائيلية في بعض المناطق إلى بضعة مئات من الأمتار، بحسب التقارير الميدانية.
وتعليقا على صعوبة المعارك التي تخوضها إسرائيل على الأرض في غزة، نقلت الصحيفة الأمريكية عن الباحث جوناثان فيجيل من المعهد الدولي الإسرائيلي لمكافحة الإرهاب: "حرب المدن التي تخوضها إسرائيل في الوقت الراهن هي أكثر أنواع المعارك صعوبة؛ حيث لحماس والجهاد الإسلامي ميزات نسبية، ومن بينها المعرفة الكاملة بساحة المعركة".
كما أكد فيجيل على أنه من الصعوبة بمكان أن تحقق إسرائيل أهدافها السياسية والعسكرية من وراء حربها الحالية في غزة، وقال: "إن حماس عقيدة؛ هذه ليست عصابة"، وأضاف أن الجيش الإسرائيلي يحاول أن يتبنى في المقابل تكتيكات تعتمد على المفاجأة.
وقال: "القوات الإسرائيلية تتحرك ببطء، ويأمل القادة الإسرائيليون في إمكان استدراج المقاتلين الفلسطينيين من مخابئهم، عن طريق تحريك الآليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية ببطء، أو البقاء في بعض الأماكن لمدد زمنية طويلة نسبيا؛ لإغراء مقاتلي حماس بالخروج".
وختم تصريحاته للجريدة الأمريكية بالقول: "هذه الحرب حرب قاسية، ولن تكون لها مدة زمنية محددة".
كما عرض المراسل الأمريكي في المقابل بعض تكتيكات الخداع التي تلجأ إليها المخابرات الإسرائيلية لتحديد أماكن اختفاء مقاتلي حماس والمقاومة الفلسطينية؛ حيث تقوم بعض عناصر المخابرات والاستطلاع الإسرائيلية بالاتصال بمواطني غزة، وانتحال شخصيات عربية وهمية "ترغب في الاطمئنان على الأهل في غزة"، ثم سؤال الغزاويين عن تحركات عناصر المقاومة بالقرب منهم.
إلا أن حكومة حماس في غزة كشفت ذلك، ودعت المواطنين الفلسطينيين إلى عدم الرد على مثل هذه الاتصالات، أو -على الأقل- عدم إعطاء معلومات عن المقاومين لمن يتصلون بهم.
وجاء الدعم المخابراتي الأهم الذي حصلت عليه إسرائيل خلال اجتياحها البري، بعد عثورهم على خريطة في أحد المنازل الفلسطينية في مدينة بيت لاهيا، تحتوي على توزيعات للفخاخ التي نصبتها المقاومة للقوات الإسرائيلية في الوسط المحيط بالمدينة، وكذلك بعض أماكن إخفاء الدعم اللوجستي التابعة لكتائب القسام في شمال غزة.
اتهامات؟!
وفي تقريره أيضا كرر إيرلانجر الادعاءات الأمريكية والإسرائيلية حول تلقي مقاتلي حركة حماس تدريبا في إيران وعلى أيدي مقاتلي حزب الله اللبناني، كما يكرر ما يقوله الإسرائيليون في شأن اتخاذ مقاتلي المقاومة الفلسطينية من الأهداف المدنية، مثل المستشفيات والمساجد ومنازل المواطنين، ملاذات آمنة لهم، أو مرتكزات لإطلاق الصواريخ وإخفاء الأسلحة.
وعرضت الصحيفة لتقرير رفعه رئيس جهاز الأمن العام الإسرائيلي "الشاباك" يوفال ديكسين إلى مجلس الوزراء الإسرائيلي الأمني المصغر قال فيه: إن حماس استوعبت إلى حد كبير دروس حرب الصيف على لبنان في العام 2006، وقال: إن هناك تطويرا واسعا في أداء المقاومة في مجال حرب العصابات داخل المدن، واستخدام شبكة معقدة من الأنفاق لتسهيل حركة المقاتلين ونقل الأسلحة على محاور غزة المختلفة.
وزعم تقرير ديكسين أن قيادة حركة حماس اختارت لغرفة عملياتها الرئيسية في غزة مقرا أسفل مستشفى الشفاء، أكبر مستشفيات قطاع غزة، إلا أن الصحيفة الأمريكية قالت إن هذا الادعاء لا يمكن تأكيده.
وتحت مثل هذه الادعاءات قصفت إسرائيل منذ أيام قليلة مدرسة الفاخورة التابعة لوكالة "الأونروا"؛ مما أدى إلى استشهاد 43 طفلا فلسطينيا، في مجزرة أدانها العالم كله، بحسب الجريدة.

استمرار الاشتباكات والاحتلال يحاول التقدم نحو مدينة غزة

أفاد مراسل الجزيرة في غزة أن الاشتباكات العنيفة تواصلت الليلة الماضية وفجر اليوم بين المقاومين الفلسطينيين وجنود الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، في وقت ارتفع فيه عدد ضحايا العدوان الإسرائيلي على القطاع الذي دخل يومه السادس عشر إلى 875 شهيدا و3695 جريحا.

وقال المراسل وائل الدحدوح إن جنود الاحتلال المعززين بالدبابات توغلوا عدة مئات من الأمتار من ثلاثة محاور انطلاقا من جهة مستوطنة نستاريم بجنوب القطاع على امتداد الساحل وحتى حدود غزة البرية تحت ستار ناري كثيف وقصف من البحر إضافة إلى استخدام قنابل الفوسفور الأبيض.

وأشار إلى أن توغل الساعات الماضية يظهر تصميم الجانب الإسرائيلي على المضي قدما في الخطة العسكرية عبر السيطرة على منطقة على الأرض ثم الانطلاق منها إلى منطقة أخرى.

توغل إسرائيلي ..

وقال شهود عيان إن الدبابات الإسرائيلية توغلت فجر اليوم باتجاه حي الشيخ عجلين بعد قصفه بالقذائف وكذا حي تل الهوى المجاور، مشيرين إلى أن القصف طال أنحاء أخرى من غزة.
وذكرت حركة المقاومة الإسلامية - حماس - وحركة الجهاد الإسلامي

أن عدة فلسطينيين أصيبوا بجروح من جراء هذا القصف، مشيرتين إلى أن رجال المقاومة زرعوا قنابل على الطرق لعرقلة توغل الدبابات الإسرائيلية في حي الشيخ عجلين.

وقبل ذلك ذكرت وكالة الصحافة الفرنسية أن المقاتلات والدبابات الإسرائيلية قصفت نحو 60 هدفا في أنحاء متفرقة من غزة. كما استهدفت إسرائيل في ساعات المساء مبنى مؤسسة الجريح الفلسطيني غرب غزة، وقصفت منزلا خاليا في شمال غرب غزة.

وقال مصدر طبي فلسطيني إن ما لا يقل عن 55 فلسطينيا أصيبوا بحروق فجر اليوم من جراء قذائف الفوسفور الأبيض التي أطلقها جنود الاحتلال.

وتحدثت تقارير صحفية عن اندلاع قتال عنيف شرقي مدينة غزة حيث أطلقت المقاومة الفلسطينية صواريخ مضادة للدبابات وقذائف هاون على القوات الإسرائيلية المتقدمة التي ردت بإطلاق قذائف دبابات وهجمات جوية.

875 شهيداً ..

ومع دخول العدوان الإسرائيلي المستمر على القطاع يومه الـ16 قالت مصادر طبية إن 48 شهيدا سقطوا أمس السبت بينهم ثلاثون شهيدا جراء الغارات والقصف المدفعي و18 تم انتشالهم من تحت الأنقاض. وبذلك يرتفع عدد شهداء هذه الحرب إلى 875 شهيدا وعدد الجرحى إلى 3695 نصفهم من الأطفال والنساء.

وبينما أطلقت المقاومة الفلسطينية صباح اليوم صاروخين من طراز غراد على مدينة بئر السبع جنوب إسرائيل، اعترف جيش الاحتلال بإصابة 12 من جنوده في العمليات خلال الـ24 ساعة الماضية.

فقد أعلن الدفاع المدني الإسرائيلي سقوط ثلاثة صواريخ غراد في مدينة عسقلان، مما أدى إلى إصابة إسرائيلييْن بجراح، كما نقل عشرة آخرون إلى المستشفى لإصابتهم بالهلع.

وفي تطور نوعي قالت كتائب القسام الجناح العسكري لحركة المقاومة الإسلامية (حماس) إنها قصفت قاعدة بالماخيم الجوية الإسرائيلية التي تبعد أكثر من خمسين كيلومترا عن غزة بصاروخ غراد مطور.

كما قصفت مستوطنة سديروت بصاروخي قسام, وأعلنت تفجير عبوتين ناسفتين في قوة إسرائيلية راجلة مكونة من تسعة جنود، وقنص جندي آخر على جبل الكاشف شرق جباليا.

وقالت الكتائب إنها فجرت منزلا ملغما شرق حي التفاح بداخله قوة إسرائيلية خاصة، وأوقعت بها إصابات محققة. كما قصفت موقعا عسكريا شرق حي المغازي بخمس قذائف هاون.

أما سرايا القدس التابعة لحركة الجهاد الإسلامي فقد أعلنت قنص جندي إسرائيلي قرب حي الزيتون, وقصف سديروت وعسقلان بأربعة صواريخ من طراز "قدس".

بدورها قالت كتائب الشهيد أبو علي مصطفى إنها قصفت سديروت وعزاتا وبئر السبع بأربعة صواريخ وفجرت ثلاث عبوات ناسفة, إضافة إلى قنص جنديين شرق بيت حانون.

كما أعلنت كتائب شهداء الأقصى مجموعات أيمن جودة الجناح العسكري لفتح أنها أطلقت بالاشتراك مع سرايا القدس قذيفتي آر بي جي على برج سكني اعتلته قوة إسرائيلية شرق جباليا.

وكان لافتا تأكيد فصائل المقاومة على اتحادها في مواجهة العدوان متوعدة بتكبيده خسائر كبيرة حال تقدمه على الصعيد البري، كما كشفت المقاومة عن وجود درجة جيدة من التنسيق بينها، فضلا عن تبني "تكتيكات" جديدة تتكيف مع الوسائل التي تستخدمها قوات الاحتلال في اعتداءاتها المتواصلة.

وأكد أبو الوليد المتحدث باسم شهداء الأقصى في حديث مع الجزيرة وجود تنسيق بين فصائل المقاومة، مشيرا إلى أن قادة من حركتي حماس وفتح يشاركون في المواجهات الجارية حاليا ضد الاحتلال.

بدورها دعت الجبهة الشعبية في قطاع غزة إلى تعزيز التنسيق الميداني بين المقاتلين من كل الفصائل مع تشكيل لجان شعبية في كل المناطق لتولي تنظيم عمليات الإغاثة، وتشكيل قيادة موحدة تتولى إدارة المعركة السياسية والدبلوماسية وتنهي التعارض في المواقف وتعدد المرجعيات الفلسطينية.

قالت وكالة الأمم المتحدة لغوث وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين (أونروا) إنها ستستأنف نشاطها قريبا بعد أن حصلت على وعد إسرائيلي بعدم تكرار ما حدث من استهداف لعمال الإغاثة والمنشآت التابعة للوكالة.

لكن كريستوفر غانس المتحدث باسم الأونروا أكد للجزيرة اليوم السبت أن الوكالة لم تتمكن من استئناف عملها على الفور بعد أن تحجج المسؤولون الإسرائيليون بعطلة السبت وبالتالي على الوكالة أن تنتظر إلى الغد لمواصلة عملها الذي لا يمكن القيام به إلا عبر التنسيق مع الجيش الإسرائيلي.

وكان المستشار الإعلامي للأونروا بغزة عدنان أبو حسن قال للجزيرة أمس الجمعة إن استئناف النشاط قد يكون في غضون 24 ساعة مشيرا إلى أن الوكالة تقدم المساعدات لنحو 750 ألف فلسطيني بأرجاء متفرقة من قطاع غزة, ومحذرا في الوقت نفسه من أن الوضع على الأرض لا يزال خطيرا.

وعلقت الأونروا نشاطها بعد استهداف طواقمها من قبل جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي الذي يشن عدوانا على غزة منذ 27 ديسمبر/كانون الأول الماضي، حيث استشهد اثنان من موظفيها المحليين الخميس عندما تعرضت قافلتهم للنيران الإسرائيلية رغم أن الأمم المتحدة أكدت أن تحركاتهم تمت بالتنسيق مع الجيش الإسرائيلي.

كما تعرضت قافلة تابعة للجنة الصليب الأحمر الدولي أيضا لإطلاق نار وأصيب سائق مما دفعها أيضا إلى تقييد تحركات العاملين بها أمس الجمعة، في حين سبق ذلك استهداف إسرائيل لمدرسة الفاخورة التابعة للأونروا ما أدى إلى استشهاد عشرات الأطفال.

وقالت وكالة أونروا في بيان إن تعليق الأنشطة بشكل مؤقت "يؤثر بشكل أساسي على توزيع الأغذية وعمليات الأونروا الأخرى التي تتضمن تحركات ملحوظة للسيارات في أنحاء غزة".

مساعدة طبية
على صعيد آخر، سمحت السلطات المصرية لنحو 11 طبيبا بالدخول إلى قطاع غزة عبر معبر رفح البري للمساعدة في علاج الجرحى من ضحايا الغارات الإسرائيلية.

وذكر مراسل الجزيرة أن الأطباء هم تسعة من المصريين ويمني ومغربي, انضموا إلى الطواقم الطبية الفلسطينية العاملة بمستشفى الشفاء في غزة الذي يعاني نقصا حادا في الكوادر والإمدادات الطبية.

ومن جهتها أنشأت الحكومة البلجيكية مركزا طبيا متحركا للمساهمة في دعم عمل الطواقم الطبية الفلسطينية التي تواجه ارتفاعا في عدد المصابين.

وفي هذا الصدد أرسلت بلجيكا طائرة عسكرية إلى مدينة العريش المصرية تحمل على متنها معدات طبية وفريقا طبيا للمساعدة في علاج الجرحى الفلسطينيين.

تبرع إماراتي
كما أعلن الرئيس الإماراتي الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان الجمعة تبرعه ببناء ستمائة مسكن للفلسطينيين الذين هدمت منازلهم في قطاع غزة جراء العملية العسكرية التي تشنها إسرائيل حاليا.

وكان الشيخ حمدان بن زايد آل نهيان نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء ورئيس هيئة الهلال الأحمر الإماراتي قرر التكفل بإعادة بناء ثلاث مدارس تابعة لوكالة الأونروا إثر تعرضها للقصف والتدمير.

Gaza conflict enters third week

Israel has continued to pound Gaza a week after sending in ground troops, despite the UN voicing disappointment ceasefire calls had not been heeded.

Israel said it launched 40 overnight air strikes, while Hamas militants fired several rockets at Israeli towns.

Senior Palestinian officials are in Egypt for talks on how to end the Gaza conflict, which began two weeks ago.

Health officials in Gaza say more than 800 Palestinians have died. Israel says 13 Israelis have been killed.

'Waterfall of blood'
The fresh wave of air strikes into Saturday morning had targeted weapons storage facilities and smuggling tunnels, according to Israel.
But Palestinian medical officials say eight people who appeared to be civilians were killed when an Israeli tank shell hit a street in Jabalya, in northern Gaza.
On the ground, Israeli troops are reported to have moved closer to the edge of Gaza City, though they have yet to go into the most densely populated areas.

Israel is preventing international journalists from entering the coastal strip.
Hamas fired more rockets at Israel on Saturday, a day after launching more than 30 of the missiles from Gaza, the Israeli military said. Two Israelis were injured by rockets in the Israeli town of Ashkelon.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urged all sides on Saturday to accept an Egyptian-brokered truce, after meeting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo.
But Mr Abbas - who heads the secular Fatah movement, bitter rivals of Hamas - does not control Gaza, and analysts say he will have little impact on the course of the conflict.
"If any party does not accept it [the truce], regrettably it will be the one bearing the responsibility, and if Israel doesn't want to accept, it will take the responsibility of perpetuating a waterfall of blood," Mr Abbas was quoted as saying by AP news agency.

Hamas, which took control of Gaza in June 2007, has also sent delegates to Cairo for separate talks.
Egypt negotiated the last ceasefire between Hamas and Israel but, correspondents say, this conflict has strained an already difficult relationship between Cairo and Hamas.
Meanwhile, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said on Friday some incidents reported during the fighting in Gaza might warrant prosecutions for war crimes.
"The vicious cycle of provocation and retribution must be brought to an end," she told the human rights council.
Both sides on Friday ignored a UN Security Council call for an immediate ceasefire to the conflict, which began on 27 December.
'Unworkable'
Hamas rejected the move first, saying it had not been consulted on the resolution. It insisted any truce must include the ending of Israel's economic blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the continued rocket attacks on Israel showed the resolution was "unworkable".

Late on Friday, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon telephoned Mr Olmert to express his disappointment that violence was continuing on the ground in disregard of the ceasefire call.

The United States, which abstained in the UN vote, offered further public support for Israel's military goals.

"This situation will not improve until Hamas stops lobbing rockets into Israel," White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said.

Aid agencies say Gaza's 1.5 million residents are in urgent need of food and medical aid.

The UN resumed aid distribution on Saturday for Palestinians in Gaza after receiving security assurances from Israel.

The UN Relief and Works Agency (Unrwa) had suspended its Gaza operations on Thursday after one the driver of one of its trucks was killed, by what the truck company said was Israeli fire.

But the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) say they are "100% certain" that they did not fire on the truck.

The violence erupted as a six-month truce between Israel and Hamas unravelled in November and comes one month before a parliamentary election in Israel.

لا يختلف الوضع الميداني في حي الزيتون عن نظيره في بلدة بيت لاهيا وشرقي مخيم جباليا للاجئين وشرقي مدينة خان يونس، فكل المناطق التي تستهدفها الحرب البرية الإسرائيلية يوازيها دفاع من قبل رجال المقاومة يصل حد الاستبسال.
وعلى خطوط التماس مع قوات الاحتلال وفي المناطق التي تتعرض للقصف ينتشر مقاومو الفصائل متحدين تلك القوات، لا يعرف هؤلاء الاستسلام وليس في قاموسهم الخسارة إنهم "يبحثون عن إحدى الحسنيين النصر أو الشهادة" كما قال أحدهم.
لا يوجد في قاموس من ترك أهله وزوجته وربما أطفاله خلفه كلمة خسارة أو استسلام، هم (المقاومون) يستبسلون لصد العدوان رغم معرفتهم الأكيدة أن إمكانياتهم متواضعة جداً ولا تكاد تذكر أمام ما تمتلكه إسرائيل من ترسانة حربية هائلة.

يقول مقاومون التقتهم الجزيرة نت في مخيم جباليا للاجئين شمال قطاع غزة إنهم لا يهابون المواجهة البرية وإن أسمى أمانيهم "أن يموتوا شهداء دون أن تتمكن إسرائيل من أرضهم" ويشيرون أيضاً إلى أن "الاحتلال ضعيف رغم ما يمتلكه من قدرات وترسانة أسلحة".
من جانبه أكد محمد (20 عاماً) أحد المقاومين من كتائب عز الدين القسام الجناح العسكري لحركة المقاومة الإسلامية (حماس)

أن المقاومة متوحدة في ميدان المواجهات مع الاحتلال ولا يفرقها أحد.
وقال المقاوم القسامي للجزيرة نت "نحن كلنا خرجنا في سبيل الله ونريد أن نلقى إحدى الحسنيين النصر أو الشهادة" مشيراً إلى أن معارك المقاومة مع الاحتلال المتوغل برياً في مناطق محدودة "دليل على فشل التقديرات الصهيونية وفشل قوة العدو في ضرب المقاومة رغم كل ما يفعله لهذا الهدف".
وأشار محمد إلى أن المقاومة صامدة وتستبسل في الدفاع عن أرضها وشعبها ولا تخضع إلا لله، موضحاً أن "الجرائم الصهيونية والعدوان لا يفت في عضد المقاومة ولا يجعل الناس تبتعد عن المقاومة وترفضها" مؤكداً في ذات الوقت أن استبسال المقاومة يوازيه دعاء المواطنين وتقديمهم ما يقدرون عليه.

أما أحد رجال المقاومة من سرايا القدس الجناح العسكري لحركة الجهاد الإسلامي فيقول إنه ودع والدته قبل أن يشارك رفاقه في المواجهات مع قوات الاحتلال المتمركزة شرقي مخيم جباليا.

وقال أبو خالد (22 عاماً) للجزيرة نت إنه جهز ليوم استشهاده منذ زمن بعيد، وينتظر هذه اللحظة بفارغ الصبر، وهو غير نادم على اشتراكه في مقاومة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي.
وأوضح مقاوم سرايا القدس أن كل فصائل المقاومة تواجه الاحتلال بتكاثف وتعاضد، وأن من فرقته السياسة والمصالح الحزبية يواجه الاحتلال بجوار رفاقه دون أن يلتفت إلى أي شيء غير هدفه الأساسي، مشيراً إلى أن الهدف الأساسي هو "صد العدوان وتكبيد الاحتلال المزيد من الخسائر".
ولفت أبو خالد إلى أن المقاومة لا تمتلك أسلحة كالتي يمتلكها جيش الاحتلال ولا يمتلك الدعم كإسرائيل؛ لكنه يمتلك أشياء لا يمتلكها الإسرائيليون ولا من يدعمونهم وهي "الإرادة والثبات والإيمان بنصر الله".

"There is a complete blackout in Gaza now. The streets are as still as death."

I am speaking to my father, Moussa el-Haddad, a retired physician who lives in Gaza City, on Skype, from Durham, North Carolina in the United States, where I have been since mid 2006 – the month Gaza's borders were hermetically sealed by Israel, and the blockade of the occupied territory further enforced.

He is out on his balcony. It is 2am.

"I can only see grey plumes of smoke slowly rising all over the city, everywhere I look," he says, as though they were some beautiful, comforting by-product of some hideous, malicious event.

My father was out walking when the initial strikes began – "I saw the missiles falling and prayed; the earth shook; the smoke rose; the ambulances screamed," he told me.

My mother was in the Red Crescent Society clinic near the universities, where she works part-time as a pediatrician. Behind the clinic was one of the police centres that were levelled. She said she broke down at first, the sheer proximity of the attacks having shaken her from the inside out. After she got a hold of herself, they took to treating injured victims of the attack, before transferring them to Shifa hospital.

Now, three days later, they are trapped in their own home.

My father takes a deep restorative sigh, before continuing. "Ehud Barak has gone crazy. He's gone crazy. He is bombing everywhere and everything ... no one is safe."

Explosions are audible in the background. They sound distant and dull over my laptop's speakers, but linger like an echo in death's valley. They evoke terrifying memories of my nights in Gaza only two years ago. Nights that till this day haunt my four-year-old son who refuses to sleep on his own.

"Can you hear them?" my father continues. "Our house is shaking. We are shaking from the inside out."

My mother comes to the phone. "Hello, hello dear," she mutters, her voice trembling. "I had to go to the bathroom. But I'm afraid to go alone. I wanted to perform wudu' before prayer but I was scared. Remember days when we would go to the bathroom together because you were too afraid to go alone?" She laughs at the thought. It seems amusing to her now, that she was scared to find her death in a place of relief; that she is now terrified of the same seemingly ridiculous scenario.

It was really the fear of being alone. When you "hear" the news before it becomes news, you panic for clarity – you want someone to make sense of the situation, package it neatly into comprehensible terms and locations. Just to be sure it's not you this time.

"It's strange, my whole body is shaking. Why is that? Why is that?" she rambles on, continuous explosions audible in the background. "There they go again. One boom after another. Fifteen. Before that, one or two, maybe 20 total so far."

Counting makes it's easier. Systemising the assaults makes them easier to deal with. More remote.

We speak to each other throughout the day. Last night, she called to let me know there were gunships overhead, as though there was something I could do about it; as though my voice would somehow make them disappear.

Eventually, her panic subsided ..."OK, OK, your father says it was the navy gunships ... they hit the pier ... the poor fishermen, it's not like it's even a real pier ... it's just the pier, just the pier ..."

They cracked the windows opened, to prevent an implosion.

"By the way we are sleeping in your room now, it's safer," she tells me, of my empty, abandoned space.

My mother's close friend, Yosra, was asked to evacuate her building. They live in a flat near many of the ministry complexes being targeted. They were advised not to go to the mosque for services, lest they be bombed.

Another family friend, an elderly Armenian-Palestinian Christian and retired pharmacist, is paralysed with fear and confined, like many residents, to her home. She lives alone, in front of the Saraya security complex on Omar al-Mukhtar Street. The complex has already been bombed twice.

The rains of death continue to fall in Gaza. And silently, the world watches. And silently, governments plotted: how shall we make the thunder and clouds rain death on to Gaza?

It will all seem, at the end of the day, that this is somehow a response to something: rockets; broken truces; irreconcilability ...

It is as though the situation were not only acceptable, but normal in the period prior to it all. As though a calm that provides no relief – political, economic, or otherwise – for Gaza's stateless, occupied, besieged Palestinians were tenable. As though settlements did not continue to expand; walls did not continue to extend and choke lands and lives; families and friends were not dislocated; life was not paralysed; people were not exterminated; borders were not sealed and food and light and fuel were in fair supply.

But it is the prisoners' burden to bear: they broke the conditions of their incarceration. Nevertheless, there are concerns for the "humanitarian situation": as long as they do not starve ...

The warden improves the living conditions now and then, in varying degrees of relativity, but the prison doors remain sealed. And so when there are 20 hours of power outages in a row, the prisoners wish that they were only eight; or 10; and dream of the days of four.

My friend Safah Joudeh is also in Gaza city. She is a 27-year-old freelance journalist.

"At this point we don't feel that it is Hamas being targeted, it's the entire population of Gaza," she says. "The strikes have been and I need to stress this, indiscriminate. They claim that the targets have been buildings and people that are Hamas-affiliated, but the employees in these buildings are public sector employees, not political activists ... other targets include homes, mosques, the university, port, fishing boats, the fish market."

No one has left their home since Saturday, she says.

"The streets were full of people the first day of the attacks, naturally. They were unexpected and came at a time when people were going about their daily business. The streets have been completely empty the past two days. People have closed up shop and trying to stay close to their families and loved ones. Many homes are without bread, the bakeries stopped working two days before the attack because of lack of fuel and flour."

The small shop down the street from my parents' home, next to the Kinz mosque where many of the Remal neighbourhood's affluent residents attend, opens for a little while after prayer. My father goes and gets whatever he can – while he can.

They have one package of bread left, but insist they are OK.

"Those with children are the ones who are truly suffering. Umm Ramadan's grandchildren will only sleep in her arms now. They are wetting their pants again."

My son, Yousuf, chimes into the conversation unceremoniously, popping his head into my laptop screen.

"Sido? I like the fatoosh you used to make! Sido ... are you OK?"

"Habibi, when we see each other again – if we see each again – I'll make it for you." he promises. The very possibility seems to comfort him, no matter how illusory.

It is my daughter Noor's birthday on January 1. She will be one year old. I cannot help but think: who was born in bloodied Gaza today?

How Israel brought Gaza to the brink of humanitarian catastrophe

Oxford professor of international relations Avi Shlaim served in the Israeli army and has never questioned the state's legitimacy. But its merciless assault on Gaza has led him to devastating conclusions.

The only way to make sense of Israel's senseless war in Gaza is through understanding the historical context. Establishing the state of Israel in May 1948 involved a monumental injustice to the Palestinians. British officials bitterly resented American partisanship on behalf of the infant state. On 2 June 1948, Sir John Troutbeck wrote to the foreign secretary, Ernest Bevin, that the Americans were responsible for the creation of a gangster state headed by "an utterly unscrupulous set of leaders". I used to think that this judgment was too harsh but Israel's vicious assault on the people of Gaza, and the Bush administration's complicity in this assault, have reopened the question.

I write as someone who served loyally in the Israeli army in the mid-1960s and who has never questioned the legitimacy of the state of Israel within its pre-1967 borders. What I utterly reject is the Zionist colonial project beyond the Green Line. The Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of the June 1967 war had very little to do with security and everything to do with territorial expansionism. The aim was to establish Greater Israel through permanent political, economic and military control over the Palestinian territories. And the result has been one of the most prolonged and brutal military occupations of modern times.

Four decades of Israeli control did incalculable damage to the economy of the Gaza Strip. With a large population of 1948 refugees crammed into a tiny strip of land, with no infrastructure or natural resources, Gaza's prospects were never bright. Gaza, however, is not simply a case of economic under-development but a uniquely cruel case of deliberate de-development. To use the Biblical phrase, Israel turned the people of Gaza into the hewers of wood and the drawers of water, into a source of cheap labour and a captive market for Israeli goods. The development of local industry was actively impeded so as to make it impossible for the Palestinians to end their subordination to Israel and to establish the economic underpinnings essential for real political independence.

Gaza is a classic case of colonial exploitation in the post-colonial era. Jewish settlements in occupied territories are immoral, illegal and an insurmountable obstacle to peace. They are at once the instrument of exploitation and the symbol of the hated occupation. In Gaza, the Jewish settlers numbered only 8,000 in 2005 compared with 1.4 million local residents. Yet the settlers controlled 25% of the territory, 40% of the arable land and the lion's share of the scarce water resources. Cheek by jowl with these foreign intruders, the majority of the local population lived in abject poverty and unimaginable misery. Eighty per cent of them still subsist on less than $2 a day. The living conditions in the strip remain an affront to civilised values, a powerful precipitant to resistance and a fertile breeding ground for political extremism.

In August 2005 a Likud government headed by Ariel Sharon staged a unilateral Israeli pullout from Gaza, withdrawing all 8,000 settlers and destroying the houses and farms they had left behind. Hamas, the Islamic resistance movement, conducted an effective campaign to drive the Israelis out of Gaza. The withdrawal was a humiliation for the Israeli Defence Forces. To the world, Sharon presented the withdrawal from Gaza as a contribution to peace based on a two-state solution. But in the year after, another 12,000 Israelis settled on the West Bank, further reducing the scope for an independent Palestinian state. Land-grabbing and peace-making are simply incompatible. Israel had a choice and it chose land over peace.

The real purpose behind the move was to redraw unilaterally the borders of Greater Israel by incorporating the main settlement blocs on the West Bank to the state of Israel. Withdrawal from Gaza was thus not a prelude to a peace deal with the Palestinian Authority but a prelude to further Zionist expansion on the West Bank. It was a unilateral Israeli move undertaken in what was seen, mistakenly in my view, as an Israeli national interest. Anchored in a fundamental rejection of the Palestinian national identity, the withdrawal from Gaza was part of a long-term effort to deny the Palestinian people any independent political existence on their land.

Israel's settlers were withdrawn but Israeli soldiers continued to control all access to the Gaza Strip by land, sea and air. Gaza was converted overnight into an open-air prison. From this point on, the Israeli air force enjoyed unrestricted freedom to drop bombs, to make sonic booms by flying low and breaking the sound barrier, and to terrorise the hapless inhabitants of this prison.

Israel likes to portray itself as an island of democracy in a sea of authoritarianism. Yet Israel has never in its entire history done anything to promote democracy on the Arab side and has done a great deal to undermine it. Israel has a long history of secret collaboration with reactionary Arab regimes to suppress Palestinian nationalism. Despite all the handicaps, the Palestinian people succeeded in building the only genuine democracy in the Arab world with the possible exception of Lebanon. In January 2006, free and fair elections for the Legislative Council of the Palestinian Authority brought to power a Hamas-led government. Israel, however, refused to recognise the democratically elected government, claiming that Hamas is purely and simply a terrorist organisation.

America and the EU shamelessly joined Israel in ostracising and demonising the Hamas government and in trying to bring it down by withholding tax revenues and foreign aid. A surreal situation thus developed with a significant part of the international community imposing economic sanctions not against the occupier but against the occupied, not against the oppressor but against the oppressed.

As so often in the tragic history of Palestine, the victims were blamed for their own misfortunes. Israel's propaganda machine persistently purveyed the notion that the Palestinians are terrorists, that they reject coexistence with the Jewish state, that their nationalism is little more than antisemitism, that Hamas is just a bunch of religious fanatics and that Islam is incompatible with democracy. But the simple truth is that the Palestinian people are a normal people with normal aspirations. They are no better but they are no worse than any other national group. What they aspire to, above all, is a piece of land to call their own on which to live in freedom and dignity.

Like other radical movements, Hamas began to moderate its political programme following its rise to power. From the ideological rejectionism of its charter, it began to move towards pragmatic accommodation of a two-state solution. In March 2007, Hamas and Fatah formed a national unity government that was ready to negotiate a long-term ceasefire with Israel. Israel, however, refused to negotiate with a government that included Hamas.

It continued to play the old game of divide and rule between rival Palestinian factions. In the late 1980s, Israel had supported the nascent Hamas in order to weaken Fatah, the secular nationalist movement led by Yasser Arafat. Now Israel began to encourage the corrupt and pliant Fatah leaders to overthrow their religious political rivals and recapture power. Aggressive American neoconservatives participated in the sinister plot to instigate a Palestinian civil war. Their meddling was a major factor in the collapse of the national unity government and in driving Hamas to seize power in Gaza in June 2007 to pre-empt a Fatah coup.

The war unleashed by Israel on Gaza on 27 December was the culmination of a series of clashes and confrontations with the Hamas government. In a broader sense, however, it is a war between Israel and the Palestinian people, because the people had elected the party to power. The declared aim of the war is to weaken Hamas and to intensify the pressure until its leaders agree to a new ceasefire on Israel's terms. The undeclared aim is to ensure that the Palestinians in Gaza are seen by the world simply as a humanitarian problem and thus to derail their struggle for independence and statehood.

The timing of the war was determined by political expediency. A general election is scheduled for 10 February and, in the lead-up to the election, all the main contenders are looking for an opportunity to prove their toughness. The army top brass had been champing at the bit to deliver a crushing blow to Hamas in order to remove the stain left on their reputation by the failure of the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon in July 2006. Israel's cynical leaders could also count on apathy and impotence of the pro-western Arab regimes and on blind support from President Bush in the twilight of his term in the White House. Bush readily obliged by putting all the blame for the crisis on Hamas, vetoing proposals at the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and issuing Israel with a free pass to mount a ground invasion of Gaza.

As always, mighty Israel claims to be the victim of Palestinian aggression but the sheer asymmetry of power between the two sides leaves little room for doubt as to who is the real victim. This is indeed a conflict between David and Goliath but the Biblical image has been inverted - a small and defenceless Palestinian David faces a heavily armed, merciless and overbearing Israeli Goliath. The resort to brute military force is accompanied, as always, by the shrill rhetoric of victimhood and a farrago of self-pity overlaid with self-righteousness. In Hebrew this is known as the syndrome of bokhim ve-yorim, "crying and shooting".

To be sure, Hamas is not an entirely innocent party in this conflict. Denied the fruit of its electoral victory and confronted with an unscrupulous adversary, it has resorted to the weapon of the weak - terror. Militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad kept launching Qassam rocket attacks against Israeli settlements near the border with Gaza until Egypt brokered a six-month ceasefire last June. The damage caused by these primitive rockets is minimal but the psychological impact is immense, prompting the public to demand protection from its government. Under the circumstances, Israel had the right to act in self-defence but its response to the pinpricks of rocket attacks was totally disproportionate. The figures speak for themselves. In the three years after the withdrawal from Gaza, 11 Israelis were killed by rocket fire. On the other hand, in 2005-7 alone, the IDF killed 1,290 Palestinians in Gaza, including 222 children.

Whatever the numbers, killing civilians is wrong. This rule applies to Israel as much as it does to Hamas, but Israel's entire record is one of unbridled and unremitting brutality towards the inhabitants of Gaza. Israel also maintained the blockade of Gaza after the ceasefire came into force which, in the view of the Hamas leaders, amounted to a violation of the agreement. During the ceasefire, Israel prevented any exports from leaving the strip in clear violation of a 2005 accord, leading to a sharp drop in employment opportunities. Officially, 49.1% of the population is unemployed. At the same time, Israel restricted drastically the number of trucks carrying food, fuel, cooking-gas canisters, spare parts for water and sanitation plants, and medical supplies to Gaza. It is difficult to see how starving and freezing the civilians of Gaza could protect the people on the Israeli side of the border. But even if it did, it would still be immoral, a form of collective punishment that is strictly forbidden by international humanitarian law.

The brutality of Israel's soldiers is fully matched by the mendacity of its spokesmen. Eight months before launching the current war on Gaza, Israel established a National Information Directorate. The core messages of this directorate to the media are that Hamas broke the ceasefire agreements; that Israel's objective is the defence of its population; and that Israel's forces are taking the utmost care not to hurt innocent civilians. Israel's spin doctors have been remarkably successful in getting this message across. But, in essence, their propaganda is a pack of lies.

A wide gap separates the reality of Israel's actions from the rhetoric of its spokesmen. It was not Hamas but the IDF that broke the ceasefire. It di d so by a raid into Gaza on 4 November that killed six Hamas men. Israel's objective is not just the defence of its population but the eventual overthrow of the Hamas government in Gaza by turning the people against their rulers. And far from taking care to spare civilians, Israel is guilty of indiscriminate bombing and of a three-year-old blockade that has brought the inhabitants of Gaza, now 1.5 million, to the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe.

The Biblical injunction of an eye for an eye is savage enough. But Israel's insane offensive against Gaza seems to follow the logic of an eye for an eyelash. After eight days of bombing, with a death toll of more than 400 Palestinians and four Israelis, the gung-ho cabinet ordered a land invasion of Gaza the consequences of which are incalculable.

No amount of military escalation can buy Israel immunity from rocket attacks from the military wing of Hamas. Despite all the death and destruction that Israel has inflicted on them, they kept up their resistance and they kept firing their rockets. This is a movement that glorifies victimhood and martyrdom. There is simply no military solution to the conflict between the two communities. The problem with Israel's concept of security is that it denies even the most elementary security to the other community. The only way for Israel to achieve security is not through shooting but through talks with Hamas, which has repeatedly declared its readiness to negotiate a long-term ceasefire with the Jewish state within its pre-1967 borders for 20, 30, or even 50 years. Israel has rejected this offer for the same reason it spurned the Arab League peace plan of 2002, which is still on the table: it involves concessions and compromises.

This brief review of Israel's record over the past four decades makes it difficult to resist the conclusion that it has become a rogue state with "an utterly unscrupulous set of leaders". A rogue state habitually violates international law, possesses weapons of mass destruction and practises terrorism - the use of violence against civilians for political purposes. Israel fulfils all of these three criteria; the cap fits and it must wear it. Israel's real aim is not peaceful coexistence with its Palestinian neighbours but military domination. It keeps compounding the mistakes of the past with new and more disastrous ones. Politicians, like everyone else, are of course free to repeat the lies and mistakes of the past. But it is not mandatory to do so.

Jewish lobbies make US support Israel

Jewish lobbies have pushed forward a US Senate resolution, which pledges Washington's full support on Israel's attacks against Gaza.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has given an approving nod to a Senate bid, which sides with Tel Aviv and "conveys America's unequivocal and steadfast support for Israel's right to self-defense."

The resolution - which was sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell - justifies Israel's raids on the coastal silver, which has so far killed 783 and wounded 3,050.

Israel launched Operation Cast Lead on the Gaza Strip on December 27 and has broadened its offensive in defiance of a recent UN Security Council resolution which calls for an urgent ceasefire.

According to the resolution, Israel is "responding exactly the same way [the US] would if rockets were being launched into the United States from Canada or Mexico."

AIPAC also cheered US President George W. Bush on his full support of Israel in the face of universal condemnation of Tel Aviv's incursion into Gaza.

In a radio address on January 3, George W. Bush refused to offer any criticism of the saturation bombing of Gaza and refrained from commenting on whether he considers Israel's response as proportionate to the scope of rockets attacks on Israel.

He also applauded the Israeli decision to reject an emergency forty-eight-hour ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to enter the besieged strip.

Outgoing Bush has supported all Israeli military actions during his eight years in office and has stepped up efforts to isolate the Hamas movement, which was democratically elected by the Palestinian nation in 2006, and took over Gaza in 2007.

UN:Israel moves Gazans to house, bombs it

Israeli forces move near 110 Palestinians into a house and shell it repeatedly 24 hours later, killing about 30 people, a UN reports says.

"According to several testimonies, on 4 January Israeli foot soldiers evacuated approximately 110 Palestinians into a single-residence house in Zeitun (half of whom were children) warning them to stay indoors," AFP quoted the United Nations' report as saying on Friday.

"Twenty-four hours later, Israeli forces shelled the home repeatedly, killing approximately 30," the report added.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) called the bombardment as "one of the gravest incidents after the beginning of Israeli onslaught on Gaza since December 27.

"Those who survived and were able walked two kilometers to Salah
Ed Din road before being transported to hospital in civilian vehicles. Three children, the youngest of whom was five months old, died upon arrival at the hospital," OCHA said.

However, Israeli military spokeswoman Avital Leibovich said: "From initial checking, we don't have knowledge of this incident. We started an inquiry but we still don't know about it."

Israel has been pounding the coastal enclave on the fourteenth day of war on Gaza despite the UN Security Council's binding resolution which has called for an immediate and durable ceasefire and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the coastal enclave.

Since Israel launched "Operation Cast Lead", 783 people have been killed and nearly 3,200 others have been wounded, Palestinian emergency services report.

Today I was with the best of Egypt’s young people!
This is what I felt after my visit today to The Red Crescent Hospital, In Ramsis square in Cairo. We went there to express our solidarity for the Gazans who are treated there, and also to grant our benefactions to them.

It was a terrific day! I reached Cairo an hour earlier to the exact appointment, then I met (So’ad), my dearest friend, who wanted to donate her blood. After a while, I phoned (Inas); a wonderful bloggeress, and very vivacious too, who arranged this event. She told me where was exactly the gathering place, so I directed there, just to find her, Bent and a number of bloggers gathering.

How I was amazed by these bloggers’ morals and excellent culture! And above this all, they were philanthropists and eager to do anything to work out this event. What’s most wonderful, which grouped us all, was our interest in blogging and benevolence, regardless of the girls being hair, face veiled or even unveiled. It was for no importance to be a Muslim or a Christian.. what matters most was one’s intention to help those in need, just.

Bloggers kept flocking with the passage of time, whom unfortunately I forgot their names. However, I remember for example Dalia, a really gracious and friendly person, who cared about everything and each person. I can’t leave out the presence of Ahmed El Sabbagh the uncle of all bloggers, a deeply lovely, simple, and cheerful persona. There were also the wonderful Shafaka w Ihsan couple: a blogger got married to a bloggeress! They are highly modestly lofty with every one. At last, I couldn’t keep in mind all the bloggers’ names, but I’ll try to mention them at the end of the post, copying from Dalial’s blog (..).

What mattered most was their excellent collaboration, to the extent that these young people were quarrelling over the virtue of serving the Palestinian casualties. We were snatching juice cans and food, so that each one could have the honour of giving it to them, by hand. We wanted to contribute with any effort, even it was a tiny one.

The bloggers and I went altogether to the hospital and visited the injured in their rooms. The rooms were clean, the service perfect and food delicious and nutrient..but.. the casualties were badly hurt. I cursed the Israelis with all the f-words I learnt as a teenager from ill-mannered friends. This was because I hadn’t seen in all my life such atrocious harm done to civilians. The

photos of the Russian casualties of WWII German shelling were a way better than what I have seen, though the Russians were army men not civilians.

I also noticed after talking with the Palestinian casualties that they were of no political trend, They don’t belong to Hamas, Fat-h, Al Jihad or any damn party! They were all simple people, wanted to live peacefully, work, earn their living and raise their children.. like any other one. They suddenly found Israeli missiles showering over their heads, with no reason..

What really tore my heart apart were two scenes: the first was a Palestinian lad.. at the same age of you and me. He had his leg cut because of a direct hit by an Israeli missile. The second was a father had just lost his son, a few moments before we arrived. It amazed me how he was patient, suppressing his grief, knowing that God will compensate him. His son, 15 year old boy, was a martyr in heaven now.. I knew after wards that his name is Nadr Kadoura. When I asked the bittered father what he intended to do, he answered right away: I would go back to Gaza.. –Under such bombardment? –Yes.. _Despite that you might die? –Yes.. I would go back, no doubt in that.

Red Cross : “shocking” scenes

The International Committee of the Red Cross said Thursday it had discovered “shocking” scenes — including small children next to their mothers’ corpses — when its representatives gained access for the first time to parts of Gaza battered by Israeli shelling. It accused Israel of failing to meet obligations to care for the wounded in areas of combat.Related

In response, the Israeli military did not comment directly on the allegation. In a statement, it accused Hamas, its foe in Gaza, of deliberately using “Palestinian civilians as human shields” and said the Israeli Army “works in close cooperation with international aid organizations during the fighting so that civilians can be provided with assistance.”
The Israeli military “in no way intentionally targets civilians and has demonstrated its willingness to abort operations to save civilian lives and to risk injury in order to assist innocent civilians,” the statement said, promising that “any serious allegation” would “need to be investigated properly, once such a complaint is received formally, within the constraints of the current military operation.”
In an unusually blunt criticism, the Geneva-based International Committee of the Red Cross said it had been seeking access to shell-damaged areas in Zeitoun in the east of Gaza City since Saturday but the Israeli authorities granted permission only on Wednesday — the first day that Israel allowed a three-hour lull in the attacks on Gaza on humanitarian grounds.
The statement said a team of four Palestine Red Crescent ambulances accompanied by Red Cross representatives made its way to Zeitoun Wednesday where it “found four small children next to their dead mothers in one of the houses. They were too weak to stand up on their own. One man was also found alive, too weak to stand up. In all, there were at least 12 corpses lying on mattresses.”
In another house, the statement said, the rescue team “found 15 other survivors of this attack including several wounded. In yet another house, they found an additional three corpses. Israeli soldiers posted at a military position some 80 meters away from this house ordered the rescue team to leave the area which they refused to do. There were several other positions of the Israeli Defense Forces nearby as well as two tanks.”
Because of berms built by Israeli forces, the ambulances could not enter the area so “the children and the wounded had to be taken to the ambulances on a donkey cart,” the statement said.
The statement quoted Pierre Wettach, an International Red Cross representative for Israel and the Palestinian areas, as calling the incident “shocking.”
“The Israeli military must have been aware of the situation but did not assist the wounded. Neither did they make it possible for us or the Palestine Red Crescent to assist the wounded,” he was quoted as saying.
The statement said the international Red Cross “believes that in this instance the Israeli military failed to meet its obligation under international humanitarian law to care for and evacuate the wounded. It considers the delay in allowing rescue services access unacceptable

لم يلق قرار مجلس الأمن الدولي بوقف فوري لإطلاق النار في قطاع غزة صداه على أرض وسماء القطاع، حيث واصلت إسرائيل عدوانها برا وبحرا وجوا ما أدى لاستشهاد تسعة وجرح آخرين. ليرتفع عدد الشهداء منذ بدء العدوان إلى 776 والجرحى لأكثر من 3150.

وقد قامت الطائرات الإسرائيلية باستهداف فجر اليوم منزلا لعائلة صالحة في بيت لاهيا شمال القطاع، فقتلت ستة من أفراد العائلة بينهم عدد من الأطفال.
و استشهاد ثلاثة فلسطينيين وأصيب 12 في الساعات الأولى من فجر اليوم في قصف بري وبحري استهدف وسط قطاع غزة وتحديدا غرب بلدة الزوايدة.
وأشار إلى وقوع اشتباكات عنيفة بين عناصر المقاومة الفلسطينية وقوات الاحتلال طوال الليلة الماضية في محيط حي التفاح شرق غزة وكذلك في محيط بيت لاهيا.
وقال المراسل إن الأوضاع في غزة تحمل نذر تصعيد في العدوان الإسرائيلي وليس تباشير سلام وهدوء كما كان يؤمل من القرار الدولي، وأوضح أن الفلسطينيين ينتظرون بقلق ما ستحمله الساعات القادمة، وفيما إذا كانت إسرائيل ستنصاع للقرار الدولي أم لا.
قوات الاحتلال واصلت عدوانها ضاربة القرار الدولي بعرض الحائط وقال شهود عيان إن دبابات إسرائيلية توجهت من محيط معبر كيسوفيم نحو مدينة خان يونس في جنوب قطاع غزة، ونقل عن الشهود قولهم إن اشتباكات عنيفة دارت في المنطقة بين قوات الاحتلال والمقاومة الفلسطينية.

What Kind of Security Will This Barbarism Bring Israel?

Israel has killed and wounded almost four thousand men, women and children so far in its assault on Gaza; it has entombed whole families together in the ruins of their homes. As I write these words, news is breaking that Israeli bombs have killed at least 40 civilians huddling in a UN school which they mistakenly thought would be safer than the homes from which Israel’s relentless barrage—and its deliberately terrorizing “warning” leaflets and prerecorded phone calls—had already driven them. (I still have one of the leaflets the Israelis dropped on besieged Beirut in 1982 and the language is exactly the same—“flee, flee for your lives!”). Mosques, schools, houses, apartment buildings, have all been brought down on the heads of those inside.

All this death and destruction comes supposedly in retaliation for rocket attacks that had not inflicted a single fatality inside Israel in over a year. What happened to “an eye for an eye?”

As horrific as the toll of dead and injured already is, the scale of Israel’s bombing, and its targeting of ambulances and medical and rescue crews—several doctors and paramedics have been killed or wounded so far—means that the true totals are actually unknown. Countless numbers of victims have bled to death in the streets or in the ruins of their smashed homes. Calls for help aren’t getting through Gaza’s phone networks, battered to pieces along with the rest of the civilian infrastructure—its water, sewage, electricity systems, all already crumbling as a result of the years of siege. The victims that are evacuated—as often, these days, in civilian cars as in the remaining ambulances—make it to hospitals that are overwhelmed; many will die that might have otherwise been saved.

Any hospital would be overwhelmed under the circumstances: how then for a hospital that has already been cut off by the three year old Israeli blockade of Gaza from urgently needed supplies, medicines, drugs, anesthetics, spare parts, fuel for generators? In fact, the true story of what Israel is doing to the people of Gaza is to be seen in the besieged territory’s hospitals: the smashed, burned, dusty bodies of children being carried in on makeshift blankets (there aren’t enough stretchers to go around); the morgue drawers full of bodies; the emergency rooms with badly hurt, crying people scattered on stretchers, on beds, on the blood-washed floors, as the doctors run from one to another trying to figure out who can be saved and who must be attended to first—the boy with his feet blown off? the old woman with the huge gash in her head? the young man with his guts hanging out of his stomach? the anguished little girl thrashing about in pain, in fear, in agony and begging for her mother who vanished in some monstrous explosion? And outside, on the crowded sidewalks, the other side of the human suffering that Israel has chosen to inflict on an entire population: the wailing mothers, fathers and children; the weeping young men; the panicked people rushing around trying to find loved ones after each new Israeli bombing.

All this to make Israelis feel secure? What security is this kind of barbarism ever likely to gain them?

These are the scenes that every Palestinian and every Arab around the world sees every single day on the uncensored, unedited, unfiltered and relentlessly, brutally honest coverage broadcast on the Arabic Al-Jazeera channel. Unlike the US and UK networks, Al-Jazeera has correspondents and camera crews all over Gaza; they are Arabs, some of them are Palestinians, and they all live among the people whose suffering they record for the whole world to see; they can communicate with them in their own language and in the language of the audience as well. The coverage continues continuously 24 hours a day.

Ordinary people around the rest of the world are seeing the version of events that gets filtered through the editing suites, the cutting rooms, the editorializing of foreign media, and that, in the case of the US, finally makes it to their living room largely (if not entirely) sanitized, and packaged to them in two-minute sound bites by correspondents posted safely outside of Gaza and inside Israel. The coverage broadcast from Israel is heavily monitored, controlled and censored. The Israeli army found in 2006 that its panicked soldiers in Lebanon were using cell phones to call home for help; this time it made sure to inspect all of its soldiers to make sure that none takes a phone with him into Gaza. The army imposes a smothering control over the flow of information; nothing that is reported from or datelined Israel can be read at face value or taken for granted.

If you get your news from an American television network, no matter how horrible you think what’s happening in Gaza is, the reality that you are not seeing is much, much, much worse. (Perhaps that’s why the English-language Al-Jazeera channel, widely followed in the rest of the world, is unofficially banned here—not a single cable or satellite provider carries it).

And yet even with this imperfect coverage it must be said that people all over the world, including in the US, are protesting what they are seeing. Huge, million-person demonstrations have been held, from Melbourne to Jakarta, from Calcutta to Istanbul, and from Vienna to London, not to mention the huge popular protests in Beirut, Cairo, Damascus, Amman, across the length and breadth of the West Bank, and in some of the largest protests ever held in Palestinian communities inside Israel. Across the US, too, people have been protesting, holding vigils, writing letters to the editors of the newspapers demanding more balance to the warped coverage of the events that we see here, especially in papers like the New York Times. And the internet has been a major source of information for all those millions who have figured out that they will never learn what they need to learn from the New York Times or the Washington Post or ABC or CNN. Sites like Counterpunch, Electronic Intifada, Alternet, Truthdig, Huffington Post, Salon and many others besides have carried extraordinarily intelligent and detailed pieces by a range of commentators whose sense of what is happening far exceeds what is made available by professional journalists in the mainstream press—including many superb pieces by Jewish Americans who give the lie, once and for all, to the absurd notion that their community is solidly behind Israel’s violence.

Indeed, it seems clear that the writing now being posted on alternative media outlets is also starting to outweigh the clumsy efforts still being churned out by America’s army of paid and unpaid cheerleaders for Israel, who have forsaken what little remained of their own humanity and blinded themselves to suffering that ought to move any rational, caring, sentient human being to tears—the Dershowitzes and Foxmans, the Orens and Boots, the Krauthammers and Peretzes, the Bards and Goldfarbs, the cynical apparatchiks of CAMERA and AIPAC and the mindless busybodies and shuffling zombies of Stand With Us, the Israel Project and the Israel on Campus Coalition—who persist with their stubborn, craven defense of the indefensible. About these misanthropes there is much to be said, most of it too unpleasant to print, so I’ll shift the burden here to those memorable closing lines of Wilfred Owen’s war poem “Insensibility:”

But cursed are dullards whom no cannon stuns,
That they should be as stones.
Wretched are they, and mean
With paucity that never was simplicity.
By choice they made themselves immune
To pity and whatever mourns in man
Before the last sea and the hapless stars;
Whatever mourns when many leave these shores;
Whatever shares
The eternal reciprocity of tears.”

As for Israel itself: once again it has revealed its true nature to the world. It was only after the first reports came in of their own serious fatalities—soldiers caught in an ambush, though the censored news reports from Israel claim that it was all friendly fire—that the Israeli media suddenly started carrying reports wondering whether things have gone too far. “The Price of Stubbornness over Gaza Exit is Dead Soldiers,” write Amos Harel and Avi Issacharoff in Ha’aretz. “For the first time, Israeli TV broadcasts raised the question of whether it was worthwhile for the operation to continue.” Until this point, the Israeli media—and most of the country’s liberal intelligentsia, never mind the militant right wing—had been moralistically defending the bombing, and sometimes actually cheering it on. Starting the attacks on a Saturday was a “stroke of brilliance,” the Guardian’s Seamus Milne quotes the country’s biggest selling paper Yediot Aharonot as saying; “the element of surprise increased the number of people who were killed.” The daily Ma’ariv agreed: “We left them in shock and awe.” The rational and genuinely ethical voices of Amira Hass and Gideon Levy have never seemed more isolated.

The brute fact of the matter is that, as long as their air force is killing an entirely defenseless people, the Israeli public and media do cheer them on. As soon as they start paying any kind of price—no matter how grotesquely out of proportion to the level of damage their soldiers are inflicting on unarmed and innocent people—their bloodlust quickly cools. In Gaza, the Israeli infantry won’t take a single step forward unless the ground in front of them—and everything and everyone in it, armed, unarmed, whoever and whatever they are—has been safely cleared away for them by the air or by artillery. “These are ‘Georgia rules,’ which are not so far from the methods Russia used in its conflict last summer,” write Harel and Issacharoff in Ha’aretz. “The result is the killing of dozens of non-combatant Palestinians. The Gaza medical teams might not have reached all of them yet. When an Israeli force gets into an entanglement, as in Sajaiyeh last night [where three Israeli soldiers were killed], massive fire into built-up areas is initiated to cover the extraction. In other cases, a chain of explosions is initiated from a distance to set off Hamas booby-traps. It is a method that leaves a swath of destruction taking in entire streets, and does not distinguish military targets from the homes of civilians.” I’m not sure where the “Georgia” reference comes from: the Israelis used the very same tactics in Jenin and Nablus in 2002, and in southern Lebanon in 2006 and 1982. And it would be an act of futility to point out—for the millionth time—that the Israeli method of warfare takes place in sweeping disregard for the principles of international humanitarian law, not to mention total contempt for innocent human life. This is not to mention that most of the casualties pouring into Gaza’s morgues and hospitals are the victims of the sheer indiscriminate unleashing on densely populated civilian areas of high explosive ordnance from land, sea and air that has been characteristic of Israel’s military style since at least the 1970s.

Israel’s disregard for innocent human life is not motivated only by a desire to forestall the political consequences—especially during an electoral campaign—of Israeli military casualties. It is also a clear indicator of the contempt that Israel has for Palestinian life in general. The cold, hungry, tired, desperate, and terrified men, women and children that Israel is now sweeping away by the dozen in balls of fire and showers of shrapnel are the very same people that it had already reduced to what one UN official months ago warned was “a subhuman existence,” the deliberate product of the siege that Israel has imposed on Gaza for over three years, beginning in 2005, before the election of Hamas. They are the same people whose political and human rights Israel has been stifling since the occupation of 1967—twenty years before the creation of Hamas. They are the same people who were ethnically cleansed from their land in 1948 because, as non-Jews, they were inconveniently cluttering up the land that European Zionists wanted to turn into a Jewish state, no matter what the land’s actual population had to say about it.

Israel’s disregard for Palestinian life in Gaza today is, in short, a direct extension of its disregard for Palestinian life since 1948, and what is happening in Gaza today is the continuation of what happened six decades ago. Eighty percent of the people crammed into Gaza’s hovels and shanties are refugees or the descendants of refugees that armed Zionist gangs, which eventually coalesced into the infant Israeli army, terrorized from their homes elsewhere in southwestern Palestine in 1948. They have been herded, penned, and slaughtered by a remorseless power that clearly regards them as subhuman. If you think I’m stretching the point, I’m not. Listen to the words of Professor Arnon Sofer, the government consultant who did so much to help plan the isolation and imprisonment of Gaza, in a interview with the Jerusalem Post in 2004: “When 2.5 million people live in a closed-off Gaza, it’s going to be a human catastrophe,” Sofer predicted. “Those people will become even bigger animals than they are today, with the aid of an insane fundamentalist Islam. The pressure on the border is going to be awful. It’s going to be a terrible war. So, if we want to remain alive, we will have to kill and kill and kill. All day, every day.” Sofer admitted only one worry with all the killing, which will, he says, be the necessary outcome of a policy that he himself helped to invent. “The only thing that concerns me,” he says, “is how to ensure that the boys and men who are going to have to do the killing will be able to return home to their families and be normal human beings.”

Meticulously and clinically thought through even before the first rocket from Gaza claimed a life inside Israel, the slaughter in Gaza today has nothing to do with rockets or with Hamas. As Sofer himself explains, it is the purest and most distilled expression of Zionist ideology. “Unilateral separation doesn’t guarantee ‘peace,’” Sofer says in that same interview; “it guarantees a Zionist-Jewish state with an overwhelming majority of Jews.”

And that—taken right from the horse’s mouth—is what the slaughter of innocents in Gaza is fundamentally about: the people being killed today are the ones for whom there is no room in the Zionist vision of the state. They are regarded as an excess population. Not even Malthus thought that a redundant population should just be lined up and shot, or bombed into the ground. But, clearly, times have changed since 1798.

This inhuman madness will end only with the end of the violent ideology that spawned it—when those who are committed to the project of creating and maintaining a religiously and ethnically exclusivist state in what has always been a culturally and religiously heterogeneous land finally relent and accept the inevitable: that they have failed.

UN: Women, children main victims in Gaza

A United Nations agency says nearly fifty percent of those killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip are women and children.

So far Israeli aggression since December 27, has killed almost 700 Palestinians and wounded at least 3,100 others while many are feared to still be under the rubble.

Doctors in Gaza have also confirmed the report by The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), saying that the main victims of Israeli strikes are civilians, many of whom are women and children. Thus far, over 200 children have been killed in Gaza.

Human rights organizations also expressed their grave concern over the mounting civilian casualties in Gaza after Israeli troops attacked a UN school in Jabalya where civilians had taken shelter.

At least 45 people were killed and dozens others injured in the attack, which Israeli officials tried to justify as an assault on a militant stronghold.

"The building was clearly waving a UN flag, there is no safe haven in Gaza. Look at what happened in Jabaliya yesterday," said Chris Gunness the spokesman for the UNWRA, the UN agency running the school.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also condemned the attack describing the act as "totally unacceptable."

"I am deeply dismayed that despite these repeated efforts, today's tragedies have ensued," Ban said, adding that "I call once again for an immediate ceasefire."

Doctor Mads Gilbert is a member of a Norwegian triage medical team present in the besieged Gaza Strip. The team has exposed that Israel has used depleted uranium weapons in its war on the impoverished territory which is home to 1.5 million Palestinians. He described the conditions inside Gaza in an exclusive Press TV interview.

Press TV: What can you tell about the uranium findings?

Dr. Mads Gilbert:The findings about the uranium I cannot tell you much about, but I can tell you that we have clear evidence that the Israelis are using a new type of very high explosive weapons which are called Dense Inert Metal Explosive (DIME) and are made out of a tungsten alloy.

These weapons have an enormous power to explode.

The power of the explosion dissipates very quickly and the strength does not travel long, maybe 10 meters, but those humans who are hit by this explosion, this pressure wave are cut in pieces.

This was first used in Lebanon in 2006, it was used here in Gaza in 2006 and the injuries that we see in Shifa [Hospital] now, many many of them I suspect and we all suspect are the effect of DIME weapons used by the Israelis.

On the long term, these weapons will have a cancer effect on those who survive. They will develop cancer we suspect. There has been very little research on this but some research has been among other places in the United States, which show that these weapons have a high tendency to develop cancer. So they kill and those who survive risk having cancer.

Press TV: And what do you have to say about this?

Dr. Mads Gilbert:All that is happening in Gaza here now is against international law, it is against humanity and I think it is against what it means to be a decent person. You don't treat other people like this. Even if you disagree with him… maybe even if you fight with them, you don't treat civilians, children and women like this.

And I have an appeal to the Israeli doctors and nurses. They are my colleagues. We belong to the same international community, the medical community. I wish that the good doctors and nurses in Israel tell their government to stop these atrocities. We cannot continue with this. We may differ in opinions, but you cannot treat the civilian Palestinian population in Gaza in this way.

Today, they were bombing in Gaza City; we received 150 wounded and more than 50 killed.

Press TV: Only at Shifa?!

Dr. Mads Gilbert:Yes, here in Shifa. I treated a ten-year-old boy. He had his whole chest filled with fragments from the bomb. On his lap was another person's leg that had been cut off. We resuscitated him and did everything we could do to save his life but he died between our hands.

This is such a terrible experience and behind the numbers that you report all the time, there are human beings, families, women, grandmothers, children. That is in fact the reality in this situation. Those who are paying the price for the Israeli bombardments now are the common people, the Palestinian people.

Half of the population in Palestine are below 15 years and 80 percent of the people in Gaza live below the level of poverty defined by the UN. Now they don't have food, they don't have electricity. It's cold they don't have warmth and in addition to that, they are killed.

This must be stopped.

Press TV How many people did you see that are effected by this weapon?

Dr. Mads Gilbert: Almost all of the patients we have received have these sever amputations. They seem to have been affected by this kind of weapon. Of course, we have many fragment injuries and burns but those who have got their limbs cut off, constitutes quite a large proportion.

You know we have a lot to do. Palestinian doctors, nurses and paramedics do an incredibly heroic job to save their people. Doctor Eric and I are just a small drip in the ocean, but we learn from them. Unfortunately, we don't have the time to do research, we have to save lives, but this question should be researched by the international community.

اتهامات دولية لقوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي باقتراف جرائم حرب (الفرنسية) شبهت الفاتيكان ظروف العيش في قطاع غزة الذي يتعرض لعدوان إسرائيلي دخل يومه الثاني عشر بـ"معسكر اعتقال كبير".

وقال وزير العدل والسلام بالفاتيكان الكاردينال ريناتو مارتينو في مقابلة نشرتها صحيفة إيطالية "انظروا ظروف العيش بغزة، إن ذلك يشابه بشكل متزايد معسكر اعتقال كبيرا".

وفي أول رد فعل اتهمت إسرائيل مسؤول الفاتيكان باستعمال عبارات "مستوحاة من دعاية" حركة المقاومة الإسلامية (حماس).

وقال المتحدث باسم الخارجية الإسرائيلية إيغار بالمور في تصريح صحفي إن هذه التصريحات "لن تمكن الناس من الحقيقة والسلام".

وتزامنت هذه الاتهامات مع تصريح شولامت ألوني الناشطة في اليسار الإسرائيلي لصحيفة عبرية انتقدت فيه قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية لتضحيتها بأرواح المدنيين في قطاع غزة عند تنفيذ عملياتها ضد المقاومة الفلسطينية.

وفي هذا الإطار رفع حقوقيون وقانونيون من بلدان عدة دعاوى قضائية أمام المحكمة الجنائية الدولية في لاهاي، ضد الحكومة الإسرائيلية وكبار القادة السياسيين والعسكريين بتهمة "ارتكاب جرائم ضد الإنسانية" وجرائم الحرب والإبادة الجماعية الناجمة عن استمرار الحصار المفروض على قطاع غزة".

ودخلت الحرب الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة يومها الثاني عشر, حيث تجددت الغارات موقعة مزيدا من الشهداء والجرحى, بعد يوم دام خلف 135 شهيدا ومئات الجرحى.

وأفادت وزارة الصحة في الحكومة المقالة في القطاع بأن حصيلة العدوان الإسرائيلي على غزة بلغت إلى حدود الآن 680 شهيدا وأكثر من 3090 جريحا.

U.N. officials are "99.9 percent certain" there were no Palestinian militants in or on the grounds of a school that was shelled by Israeli forces, killing more than 40 people, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Chris Gunness, a spokesman for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, disputed Israel's account of the bombardment of the northern Gaza school. But he said that if anyone could clear up the remaining uncertainty, "We would like them to come forward and be part of an impartial investigation."

The deaths have stoked international concerns about the Israeli campaign in Gaza, which showed little sign of letting up Wednesday.

The Israeli military said Hamas militants were firing mortars from the U.N. school in the northern Gaza town of Jabalya that was being used as a shelter by hundreds of civilians. Those operatives, described as heads of Hamas mortar-firing operations, were killed in the strike, the Israel Defense Forces said.

فنزويلا تطرد سفير إسرائيل وشافيز يطلب محاكمة قادتها

أعلنت فنزويلا أنها قررت طرد السفير الإسرائيلي شلومو كوهين مع ستة موظفين آخرين تضامنا مع الشعب الفلسطيني واحتجاجا على الحرب الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة، وسط مطالبة الرئيس هوغو شافيز بمحاكمة قادة إسرائيل.

ووسط تصفيق عارم، قال وزير الخارجية الفنزويلي نيكولاس مادورا "إن السفير الإسرائيلي شخص غير مرغوب بوجوده على الأراضي الفنزويلية".

وأعلن أنه خفض مستوى التمثيل مع تل أبيب إلى حده الأدنى، وقال بيان للخارجية الفنزويلية إن ما تقوم به إسرائيل في غزة يتناقض مع القانون الدولي.

تصريحات شافيز
وسبق طرد السفير تصريحات صارمة من الرئيس الفنزويلي، فقد وصف شافيز أمس الجيش الإسرائيلي بـ"الجبان" بسبب "عدوانه" علي قطاع غزة، وقال إن شعب إسرائيل يجب عليه أن يتظاهر ضد هذا "العدوان".

وأضاف شافيز للصحفيين "كم هو جبان الجيش الإسرائيلي، فهو يهاجم أناسا وهم مرهقون ونيام وأبرياء ويتفاخر بأنه يدافع عن بلاده وأنا أدعو الشعب الإسرائيلي بأن يثور ضد حكومته".

ودعا الرئيس الفنزويلي إلى محاكمة الرئيس الإسرائيلي شمعون بيريز والرئيس الأميركي المنصرف جورج بوش بتهمة "الإبادة الجماعية" في محكمة العدل الدولية.

وقال "ينبغي جر الرئيس الإسرائيلي إلى محكمة دولية ومعه الرئيس الأميركي، لو كان لهذا العالم ضمير حي. يقولون إن الرئيس الإسرائيلي شخص نبيل يدافع عن شعبه! أي عالم عبثي هذا الذي نعيش فيه؟".

وتابع "إن الجيش الإسرائيلي يشن هجوما جبانا على أناس أبرياء أوهنهم الحصار"، وحث شافيز الشعب الإسرائيلي على الوقوف ضد حكومته، وطالبهم بأن "يضعوا أيديهم على قلوبهم وينظروا إلى أطفالهم".

ووجه شافيز للمجتمع الدولي رسالة، أثناء زيارته لمستشفى لعلاج الأطفال في كراكاس بوضع نهاية "للجنون" في غزة، مضيفا أن حكومته تعمل على إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية للشعب الفلسطيني.

وأشار إلى أن حكومته تحترم الإسرائيليين الذين يعيشون في فنزويلا، ولكنه يأمل أن "يعارض المجتمع اليهودي في فنزويلا هذا العمل الوحشي".

وقال "على يهود فنزويلا أن يدينوا هذه البربرية، فاليهود يرفضون كل أشكال الاضطهاد ويرفضون الهولوكوست... فما هذا الذي نراه يحدث في غزة؟".

An audio message reportedly from al Qaeda's deputy chief vows revenge for Israel's air and ground assault on Gaza and calls the Jewish state's actions against Hamas militants "a gift" from U.S. President-elect Barack Obama.

Al Qaeda's Ayman al-Zawahiri is said to address Muslims in Gaza in an audio message released Tuesday.

The speaker, identified as Ayman al-Zawahiri, addresses Muslims in Gaza. He said the violence "is one part of a series of a crusade war against Islam and these air strikes are a gift from Obama before he takes office, and (Egyptian President) Hosni Mubarak, that traitor, is the main partner in your siege and killing."

The message, posted Tuesday on various Islamist Web sites with a picture of al-Zawahiri next to an image of a wounded child, urges militants to rally against Israel.

"My Muslim brothers and mujahedeens in Gaza and all over Palestine, with the help of God we are with you in the battle, we will direct our strikes against the crusader Jewish coalition wherever we can."

The 10-minute message also address Muslims worldwide, claiming that Obama was portrayed as "the savior who will come and change American policy" during the U.S. election but is now "killing your brothers and sisters in Gaza without mercy or even pity."

Obama's transition team did not immediately respond to the message. Earlier Tuesday, the president-elect said he was "deeply concerned" about the loss of life in Gaza and Israel, and he promised to make the issue a top priority in his administration.

It was Obama's first public reaction to the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza, which began with Israeli air strikes 11 days ago. He reiterated that only one president can speak for the United States at a time.

"Starting at the beginning of our administration, we are going to engage effectively and consistently to try to resolve the conflicts that exist in the Middle East," Obama said.

CNN Senior International Correspondent Nic Robertson said the al Qaeda message speaks to al-Zawahiri's cause in two ways: It bashes the new U.S. president before he takes office and it criticizes Mubarak, who has drawn al-Zawahiri's ire for not allowing goods and aid through Egypt's border with Gaza.

Al-Zawahiri is a native of Egypt who has served jail time there.

Robertson, who is reporting from the Israeli-Gaza border, noted on CNN's "Situation Room" that al-Zawahiri got the message out quickly -- "within 12 days, that's very fast." He said that indicated "there's many issues there that are dear to him."

قال الصحفي الإسرائيلي شراغا إيلام إن أحد أهداف إسرائيل من العدوان على قطاع غزة "هو تهجير أكبر قدر ممكن من الفلسطينيين إلى خارج القطاع، على أن يكون شمال سيناء مستقرا لهم، وإرغام الاتحاد الأوروبي على قبول عدد آخر كلاجئين سياسيين، تحت ضغط المعاناة الإنسانية".

ويرى إيلام أن إسرائيل لم تتوقف عن سياسة التطهير العرقي للتخلص من الفلسطينيين منذ عام 1948 بالقتل أو التهجير.

وقال إن الرئيس الأميركي جورج بوش "منح إسرائيل هدية ثمينة قبل مغادرته الحكم"، بموافقته على العدوان الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة.

ووصف ما يجرى بأنه جعل "الرصاص المسكوب يصب في حقل أشواك فإما الرحيل أو الموت أمام السكان هناك".

وأشار إيلام -المناهض للصهيونية- في حديثه مع الجزيرة نت إلى الضوء الأخضر الذي حصلت عليه إسرائيل من جورج بوش لتنفيذ الخطة الإسرائيلية الشيطانية.

وأوضح أنها تتبع سياسة الأرض المحروقة في المنطقة "ليجد الرئيس الجديد باراك أوباما ملف الصراع العربي الإسرائيلي وليس سوى الخراب، فتصاب إدارته الجديدة بالارتباك، ولذا فستستمر العمليات الإسرائيلية على الأرجح لمدة عشرة أيام على الأقل، لتصل إسرائيل إلى عدد كبير من الخسائر".

وذكر إيلام أن القيادة العسكرية الإسرائيلية تعتقد أنها لن تمنى بالفشل مثلما حدث في لبنان عام 2006، بسبب اختلاف طبيعة الأرض في قطاع غزة، وقناعة الجيش الإسرائيلي بأن كلا من سوريا وحزب الله لن يتدخلا.

تواطؤ

كما رجح تواطؤ الاتحاد الأوروبي مع المخطط الإسرائيلي "بدليل مشاركته في الحصار على قطاع غزة ومقاطعته الحكومة المقالة رغم اعتراف الاتحاد الأوروبي بنزاهة الانتخابات الفلسطينية التي أوصلت حماس إلى الحكم، وصمته عن ما يحدث هناك الآن، لكن التحدي الحقيقي -حسب قوله- هو في إمكانية قبول عدد كبير من الفلسطينيين كلاجئين في أوروبا، وهي تواجه مشكلات اقتصادية حادة الآن.

رجب أردوغان دعا إلى وقف فوري لإطلاق النار في قطاع غزة (رويترز-أرشيف)

وصف رئيس الوزراء التركي رجب طيب أردوغان العدوان الإسرائيلي على سكان قطاع غزة بأنه "نقطة سوداء في تاريخ الإنسانية"، وتساءل عن مبررات "هذه الوحشية" التي قال إن المسؤولين الإسرائيليين يتعاملون بها.

وجدد أردوغان اتهامه لإسرائيل بالمسؤولية عن التوتر الذي تشهده المنطقة، وقال إن ما تقترفه من "مذابح ضد الفلسطينيين يفتح جروحا يصعب شفاؤها في ضمير الإنسانية".

وقال إن العمليات الإسرائيلية في غزة تهدد سلسلة من التطورات التي تبعث على الأمل في الشرق الأوسط، ومنها محادثات السلام السورية الإسرائيلية التي تجري بوساطة تركية.

وأضاف أن الهدف من العملية العسكرية الإسرائيلية في غزة هو "تسجيل مكاسب انتخابية" في الانتخابات البرلمانية التي من المنتظر أن تجرى بإسرائيل في العاشر من فبراير/شباط المقبل.

وجدد المسؤول التركي -في كلمة ألقاها الثلاثاء أمام برلمانيي حزب العدالة والتنمية الحاكم- دعوته إسرائيل إلى وقف هجومها على قطاع غزة فورا، ووصف الأطراف التي لم تدن الهجوم بأن لها "معايير متعددة".

رجب أردوغان (يسار) خلال لقائه العاهل السعودي في جولته العربية الأخيرة (الفرنسية)وتساءل أردوغان "لماذا الذين هرولوا سريعا لمساعدة جورجيا هادئون الآن"، وذلك في إشارة واضحة إلى الولايات المتحدة الأميركية التي سارعت إلى إرسال مساعدات إلى جورجيا عقب الهجوم الروسي عليها في أغسطس/آب الماضي.

وكان أردوغان قد قام الأسبوع الماضي بجولة شملت سوريا والأردن ومصر والسعودية، وتمحورت حول تطورات الأوضاع في قطاع غزة، وبحث سبل التحرك من أجل وقف إطلاق النار.

وأعلن أردوغان عن حملة لدعم ومساعدة فلسطين، ووجه دعوة مباشرة إلى الأتراك من أجل المساهمة في صندوق أسسته الحكومة لهذا الغرض.

القرضاوي يدافع عن حماس ويطالب المسلمين بمساعدة غزة

محيط: طالب يوسف القرضاوي رئيس الاتحاد العالمي لعلماء المسلمين الأمة الإسلامية بالتحرك لنصرة أهل فلسطين الذين يتعرضون للمجازر الإسرائيلية ، مدافعًا عن حركة المقاومة الاسلامية (حماس) التي قال إنها لم تخطئ حين أنهت التهدئة التي استمر فيها الحصار الإسرائيلي لقطاع غزة .

وأشار قرضاوي في خطبة الجمعة بالدوحة إلى " ان حماس انهت التهدئة لسبب واضح انها لا تريد تهدئة مجانية" وتساءل:" هل تعني التهدئة ان أكف يدي عنك وانت تقتلي وتموتني جوعًا بالحصار أي تهدئة هذه ؟".

وأوضح القرضاوي:" هذا الحصار الذي شاهدناه يحرم الفلسطينيين من كل مقومات ومتطلبات الحياة إن الفلسطينيين لا يجدوا شربة المياه ولا الوقود ولا الغذاء ولا الدواء لا يجدو التدفئة .. ماذا يفعل الناس ".

وقال القرضاوي:" إن المعابر في أيديهم يغلقونها وقتما يشاءون ويفتحونها متى يشاءون .. كيف يمكن الصبر على هذا .. والأعجب إن المعبر الذي بأيدينا نحن العرب المسلمين نغلقه عن أخواننا وهو شريان من شرايين الحياة كيف يجوز لنا هذا".

وأوضح القرضاوي :" أن الامة الاسلامية يجب ان تهب أمام العدو والغزو الاسرائيلي أهل البلد أولا وهم الفلسطينيين الان ومن ثم من حولهم ومن حولهم حتى يشمل الجهاد العالم الإسلامي بأكمله".

وتابع القرضاوي:" إن أهل فلسطين غير قادرين على مواجهة إسرائيل بترسانتها النووية وقدرتها العسكرية التي تمويلها أمريكا ،وهم عزل ( الفلسطينيين) لا يستطيعون المواجهة وحدهم ولذلك على الأمة الإسلامية ان تقف معهم كلا بما يستطيع أن يقدم من رجال أو سلاح أو بالمال أو حتى بالمقاطعة ".

وقال: " إن الأمة الاسلامية أمة متضامنة في كل شىء في السراء والضراء في الحرب والسلم

، المسلم اخ المسلم لا يسلمه ولا يحقره ولا يخذله ، ويجب ان يشد المسلمين بعضهم البعض كالجسد الواحد لا يجوز في الاسلام ان تعيش وحدك وتترك اخوانك ". مضيفا:" فيكتب الفقه الإسلامي انه إذا أسرت امراة مسلمة في المشرق يجب ان يساعدها ويفك اسرها حتى أهل المغرب ".

إوكان القرضاوي دعا في كلمة ألقاها في مهرجان جماهيري حاشد لنصرة الشعب الفلسطيني في غزة نظمته الفعاليات الشعبية والثقافية بدولة قطر في الدوحة ليلة أمس الخميس أن نصرة أهل غزة في محنتهم واجبة على المسلمين، كل حسب استطاعته، لا يعذر منذ ذلك أحد.

وحيا د. القرضاوي جماهير الأمة الإسلامية التي خرجت في مسيرات معبرة عن شعورها وتعاطفها مع غزة، مؤكدة أن الأمة الإسلامية مازالت حية وموجودة، وأنها جميعا مستعدة لبذل الأنفس والأموال من أجل نصرة إخوانها، مشيرا إلى أن المشكلة تكمن في عجز الأنظمة الرسمية التي وصفها بأنها فقدت شرعيتها لدى شعوبها عن اتخاذ قرار حاسم لمواجهة الظلم الواقع على سكان غزة.

وخاطب العلامة القرضاوي قيادات حركة المقاومة الإسلامية "حماس" في الداخل والخارج، مؤكدا لهم أن قلوب الأمة معهم في صبرهم ومصابرتهم، واصفاً إياهم بأنهم "مثال للبطولة الرائعة والرجولة الفارعة رغم الجوع والحصار والتضييق"، داعيا إياهم إلى عدم اليأس، إذ أن اليأس والقنوط من مظاهر الكفر، كما قال، مضيفا: "اطمأنوا فلن تخذلوا ولن تضيعوا مادمتم متمسكين بحقكم".

هآرتس: مبارك أكد لوفد أوروبي ضرورة هزيمة حماس

ذكرت صحيفة هآرتس الإسرائيلية اليوم الثلاثاء أن الرئيس المصري أبلغ الوفد الوزاري الأوروبي الذي زار البلاد أمس الاثنين أنه ينبغي عدم السماح لحركة المقاومة الفلسطينية (حماس) بكسب المعركة التي تخوضها في غزة ضد قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي.

وكان حسني مبارك قد اعتبر أن حماس تتحمل الجانب الأكبر من المسؤولية عما يتعرض له أهل غزة من اعتداءات غير مسبوقة لأنها قررت إنهاء التهدئة، ولم تستمع لنصيحة مصر بضرورة تجديدها.

وفي وقت لاحق طالب الرئيس المصري بوقف الهجوم الإسرائيلي, لكنه في الوقت نفسه رفض طلب حماس فتح معبر رفح بشكل دائم مشترطا اشتراك إسرائيل في مراقبته بموجب اتفاقية المعابر لسنة 2005 التي تنظم تنقل الأشخاص بين قطاع غزة ومصر.

ولاحظت اليومية العبرية أن تصريح مبارك خلال لقائه في شرم الشيخ الوفد الأوروبي بقيادة وزير خارجية التشيك كارل شوارزنبرغ -الذي تسلمت بلاده الرئاسة الدورية للاتحاد الأوروبي من فرنسا- جاء قبل ساعات من إعلان القاهرة عن دعوة وفد من قيادة حماس بالخارج لمناقشة أفكار تهدف لإنهاء الهجوم الإسرائيلي على غزة.

وتابعت أن الوفد الذي ضم وزير خارجية فرنسا برنارد كوشنر والممثل الأعلى للسياسة الخارجية للاتحاد الأوروبي خافيير سولانا, والذي توجه من القاهرة إلى إسرائيل وأبلغ وزيرة خارجيتها تسيبي ليفني خلال لقاء بالقدس المحتلة أمس بفحوى المقابلة مع مبارك.

ونقل الوفد إلى ليفني ما صدر عن مبارك خلال اجتماع مغلق حيث قال الرئيس المصري قال لزواره إن "حماس يجب ألا تخرج منتصرة من القتال في غزة" بحسب هآرتس.

وأضافت الصحيفة أن مبارك نفى, خلال الحديث عن الشروط الإسرائيلية لوقف النار ومنها وضع حد لتهريب الأسلحة إلى القطاع عبر مصر, أن تكون بلاده ممرا للتهريب. وقال إن الأسلحة تهرب إلى غزة في حاويات تلقيها سفن قبالة غزة وتقوم الفصائل بعد ذلك بالتقاطها.

ووفقا للصحيفة، فإن الوفد الوزاري الأوروبي شدد خلال الاجتماع مع ليفني على التوصل لوقف النار بأسرع ما يمكن للسماح باستئناف المفاوضات بين إسرائيل والسلطة الفلسطينية.

هذا واكد امين سر كتلة حماس البرلمانية مشير المصري ان خيار المقاومة هو خيار استراتيجي للحركة, وهو الكفيل بطرد الاحتلال من الاراضي الفلسطينية. وحذر العدو الاسرائيلي من مغبة ارتكاب اي عملية حمقاء وغبية لاغتيال قياديي حماس, مؤكدا ان ذلك سيفتح باب المواجهة على مصراعيه ضد العدو.‏

ذكر راديو "صوت إسرائيل" الثلاثاء أن 3 جنود من جيش الإسرائيلى قتلوا نتيجة تعرضهم عن طريق الخطأ لاطلاق قذيفة دبابة إسرائيلية شمال قطاع غزة، كما أصيب جندى آخر بجروح بالغة الخطورة و3 جنود بجروح خطيرة و28 جنديا آخر بجروح وصفت بأنها ما بين متوسطة وطفيفة.

وأضاف الراديو أنه تم ابلاغ عائلات الجنود بالحادث، مشيرا إلى أنه قد قدمت للجرحى الاسعافات الأولية فى مكان الحادث ثم تم نقلهم بواسطة مروحيات وسيارات الى المستشفيات وسط قيام المدفعية الإسرائيلية بتأمين عملية اجلاء الجرحى.

وكشف الراديو أن قائد لواء "جولانى" للمشاة الكولونيل آفى بيلد أصيب هو الآخر بجروح طفيفة نتيجة سقوط قذيفة الدبابة الاسرائيلية ..ولكنه رفض الجلاء عن المكان قبل انتهاء عملية نقل الجرحى الى المستشفيات.

لكن في المقابل ووفقا لرواية كتائب عز الدين القسام، الجناح العسكرى لحركة "حماس" ، فإن مقاتليها تمكنوا من استدراج قوت خاصة إسرائيلية إلى داخل أحد المنازل المفخ بالعبوات الناسفة والألغام شرق مدينة غزة ثم قامت بتفجيره مما أسفر عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 3 جنود وإصابة كثيرين .

وقاتلت القوات الاٍسرائيلية تدعمها غارات جوية للاستيلاء على أراض من مقاتلي حركة المقاومة الاسلامية (حماس) في عمق قطاع غزة يوم الاثنين على الرغم من دعوات دولية الى الهدنة في صراع أودى بحياة أكثر من 540 فلسطينيا في عشرة أيام.

وقال مسعفون ان اكثر من 30 مدنيا بينهم أطفال قتلوا يوم الاثنين اليوم الثالث للهجوم البري الاسرائيلي. وقالت اسرائيل انها قتلت عشرات من مقاتلي حماس مع امتداد المعارك الى ضواحي مدينة غزة نفسها.

وقالوا ان اطلاق نيران من سفن للبحرية الاسرائيلية قتل عشرة فلسطينيين في دير البلح في وسط قطاع غزة يوم الثلاثاء.

وقال شهود ان السفن الاسرائيلية اطلقت قذائف نحو شاطئ في المنطقة.

وأكد الدكتور معاوية حسين مدير عام الطوارئ بوزارة الصحة الفلسطينية أن نحو‏113‏ فلسطيني استشهدوا بينهم ‏28‏ طفلا و‏14‏ سيدة منذ بدء الهجوم البري مساء السبت الماضي‏‏ وأوضح مسئول آخر أن القوات الإسرائيلية قتلت سبعة أفراد من أسرة واحدة عندما قصفت منزلهم بمخيم الشاطئ للاجئين بغزة‏.

وصرح الدكتور غازي حمد القيادي البارز بحركة حماس بأن القوات الاسرائيلية القت علي رؤوس الابرياء في غزة خلال‏10‏ ايام من العدوان اكثر من‏200‏ ألف طن متفجرات‏.‏

وقال صحفي من رويترز من منزله في المدينة التي يعيش فيها 500 ألف نسمة ان العائلات المذعورة تتجمع في غرف بعيدا عن النوافذ. وقال "حتى الان لم أكن خائفا. ولكني الان خائف وابنتي ترتعش طول الوقت. لا مكان يبدو امنا."

وتم نقل 10 من الجرحى الفلسطينيين القادمين من قطاع غزة لاستكمال العلاج فى المملكة العربية السعودية وليبيا منهم 6 بالسعودية و 4 بليبيا حيث استقلوا طائرتى إخلاء جوى سعودية وليبية كانتا جاهزتين بمطار العريش لنقلهم.

وأكد الدكتور طارق المحلاوى مدير عام الصحة بشمال سيناء أنهم من ذوى الحالات الصعبة وقد سبق نقلهم من قطاع غزة عبر ميناء رفح البرى لتلقى العلاج فى المستشفيات المصرية.

مما يذكر أنه كان قد سبق نقل 25 جريحا وجريحة ومرافقيهم من الفلسطينيين إلى كل من السعودية والأردن للعلاج بالمستشفيات هناك.

باراك: العملية قد تزداد صعوبة

وقال وزير الدفاع الاسرائيلي ان العملية التي تهدف الى وقف هجمات صواريخ حماس على جنوب اسرائيل قد تزداد صعوبة على الجنود قبل تنفيذ المهمة.

وتعهدت حماس بمواصلة القتال "في كل شارع وفي كل حارة" وهددت باطلاق المزيد من الصواريخ عبر الحدود على اسرائيل.

ودعا الرئيس الفرنسي نيكولا ساركوزي الذي يقوم بجولة وساطة من أجل السلام في الشرق الاوسط والرئيس الامريكي جورج بوش في أسابيعه الاخيرة في البيت الابيض الى وقف اطلاق النار.

وارتفع عدد الشهداء في غزة الى 550 شخصا على الاقل معظمهم مدنيون. وقال مسؤولون طبيون فلسطينيون ان بين ضحايا يوم الاثنين 13 من أفراد أسرة فلسطينية واحدة لقوا حتفهم في ضربة اسرائيلية على منزلهم في مخيم للاجئين.

وتقاتل الجنود الاٍسرائيليون ومقاتلو حماس طوال النهار وبعد حلول الليل. وقال شهود ان النشطاء أطلقوا قذائف المورتر والقنابل وفجروا ألغاما وحاولوا استدراج الجنود الاسرائيليين الى المناطق السكنية.

وعلى الرغم من ان اسرائيل سمحت بدخول 80 شاحنة من الامدادات يوم الاثنين فان وكالات اغاثة قالت ان السكان تشتد حاجتهم الى الغذاء والامدادات الطبية ومساعدات أخرى لكن العنف يعرقل جهود الاغاثة.

وقصف سلاح الجو الاسرائيلي عشرات الاهداف بما في ذلك منازل لاعضاء في حماس تستخدم كمستودعات سلاح.

وقسم تقدم اسرائيل في غزة القطاع الساحلي الذي يمتد بطول 40 كيلومترا الى منطقتين رئيسيتين.

وأبلغ وزير الدفاع ايهود باراك لجنة الشؤون الخارجية والدفاع بالبرلمان أن حماس تلقت ضربة قوية.

وقال "لكننا لا نستطيع القول بأن قدراتها القتالية تضررت ... حماس لم تسع لمواجهة مباشرة مع قواتنا وتريد استدراج قواتنا الى مناطق سكنية.

"لحظات صعبة تنتظرنا في هذه العملية والاختبار الحقيقي قد يكون فيما هو ات."

وحشد قادة حماس مقاتليهم من خلال خطاب التحدي يوم الاثنين. وقال المتحدث أبو عبيدة في كلمة أذاعتها وسائل اعلام حماس ان الاف المقاتلين ينتظرون "في كل شارع في كل حارة وفي كل منزل" من أجل التعامل مع الجنود.

وهدد الاسرائيليين بالقول بأن حماس ستأسر المزيد من الجنود بالاضافة الى جلعاد شليط الموجود في قبضة حماس منذ أكثر من عامين.

وأضاف أن حماس ستزيد الضربات الصاروخية على اسرائيل اذا استمرت هجمات اسرائيل على غزة.

وقالت الشرطة ان صاروخا سقط في مدينة أسدود مما ألحق أضرارا بمبنى وأصاب شخصين.

ومنذ بدء الهجوم قتلت صواريخ وقذائف مورتر أطلقت على اسرائيل أربعة اسرائيليين وقتل جندي اسرائيلي في اشتباكات يوم الاحد وأصيب 48 اخرون بعد أن وسعت اسرائيل عمليتها الى هجوم بري.

وذكرت وكالة الانباء الايرانية ان اكثر من 70 ?الف طالب من طلاب الجامعات من كافة المدن الايرانية سجلوا خلال الاسبوع الماضي في الكتائب الاستشهادية دعما للصامدين في غزة.

ارتياح موريتاني باستدعاء السفير

من ناحية أخري أثار قرار السلطات الموريتانية باستدعاء السفير الموريتاني من تل أبيب أحمد ولد تكدي ، للتشاور معه حول الوضع الراهن عقب الغارات الإسرائيلية على غزة ، ارتياحا ملحوظا في الاوساط الحزبية والشعبية فى البلاد.

ففي قصر المؤتمرات ، حيث المشاورات الممهدة لعودة المسار الدستوري فى موريتانيا، عم الفرح أوساط المشاركين الذين يمثلون مختلف الاطياف السياسية وتعالت التكبيرات والتصفيق عند سماع الخبر .

وعلى صعيد متصل ، سارعت الاحزاب السياسية إلى ترحيبها بالخطوة ..وثمن حزب الاتحاد والتغيير الموريتاني "حاتم" الخطوة التي اتخذتها الحكومة بشأن استدعاء السفير الموريتاني في تل أبيب احتجاجا على المجازر التي ترتكبها اسرائيل في قطاع غزة.

ودعا الحزب الذي يقوده صالح ولد حنانه ، في بيان له ، الحكومة الموريتانية وعلى رأسها الجنرال محمد ولد عبد العزيز إلى قطع فوري للعلاقات مع اسرائيل .

وفي البرلمان الموريتاني ، الذي كان مجتمعا لدى اعلان الخبر ، طالب النواب الحكومة الموريتانية بطرد سفير إسرائيل من موريتانيا، وقطع كل العلاقات معها .

UN: Humanitarian crisis worsening

The UN has said that there is an "a worsening and an increasingly alarming" humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
John Holmes, the UN humanitarian chief, told reporters on Monday that officials believed as many as 25 per cent of the 548 people killed in the fighting were civilians and that Gaza's health system, overwhelmed by the more than 2,500 injured, was "increasingly precarious".
"This is, in our view, a humanitarian crisis," Holmes said. "It's very hard for me to see any other way you could describe it, given the conditions in which the population are living."
Holmes added that "cluster munitions are being used", and that it was "a fair presumption" that most of the civilians killed were women and children.
He also said there were fears that the humanitarian situation would further deteriorate as the strip, home to 1.5 million people, was suffering from acute shortages of fuel, food and medical supplies.
Israeli leaders have maintained that there is no humanitarian crisis for the Palestinians living in the densely populated territory, and that they have been keeping border crossings open and are delivering vital supplies.
Several times last week, Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister, denied there was a humanitarian crisis.
She said in Paris on Saturday that Israel had been careful to protect civilians and there was no need for a humanitarian truce, since there was no humanitarian crisis.
Iyad Nasr of the Red Cross in Gaza City said Israel's offensive against Gaza had worsened the hardships created by the Israeli blockade over the last 18 months.
"The size of the operations and the size of the misery we are seeing here on the ground is just overwhelming," he said.

اهتمت ثلاث صحف عبرية بزيارة الرئيس الفرنسي نيكولا ساركوزي إلى الشرق الأوسط وبالجلسة التي يتوقع أن يعقدها الأربعاء مجلس الأمن, خاصة أن فرنسا ترأس الآن هذه الهيئة التي ستدرس الطلب العربي بإنهاء العمليات الإسرائيلية في غزة, وتحدثت جميعها عن مساعي تل أبيب لتأجيل نقاش وقف إطلاق النار حتى "تتحقق" أهدافها.

وكتبت معاريف أن رئيس الوزراء إيهود أولمرت حاول إقناع ساركوزي, في اللقاء الذي جمعهما أمس "بعد أسبوع كامل" من بدء الحرب في غزة, بأن من غير المناسب حاليا اتخاذ قرار بوقف إطلاق النار.

حماس وإيران

أما هآرتس فنقلت عن أولمرت قوله إنه يجب وقف مرور السلاح من إيران إلى حركة المقاومة الإسلامية (حماس) "وهي حركة لم تفعل الهدنة إلا على مضاعفة مدى صواريخها من عشرين كيلومترا إلى أربعين.

وقد كانت الدعوة إلى "كسر العلاقة" بين إيران وحماس هي ذاتها التي وجهها الرئيس الإسرائيلي شمعون بيريز في لقاء مع ساركوزي.

وقال أولمرت إن أي قرار بوقف النار يتخذه حاليا مجلس الأمن سيحد من قدرة هامش الحركة الإسرائيلية في مواجهة "الإرهاب" لذا "ليس مناسبا تمرير قرار مثل هذا في هذه المرحلة" نافيا أن يكون الهدف القضاء على حماس وإنما "تغيير الوضع الأمني" في القطاع.

كما نقلت هآرتس عن ساركوزي قوله إنه –إلى جانب وقف إطلاق النار- يجب منع تزايد قوة حماس, ولذا "لا تكفي عملية عسكرية بغزة, والأمر يحتاج إلى عملية سياسية".

وحسب الصحيفة, قرر المجلس الأمني المصغر تأجيل البت في قرار مشاركة ليفني في الجلسة، إلى أن يغادر ساركوزي إسرائيل.

لكن يديعوت أحرونوت نقلت عن مصادر بالقدس المحتلة قولها إن قرارا بوقف النار حتى لو اتخذ في مجلس الأمن لا يعني توقف الحرب ضد حماس.

وأوضحت أن إسرائيل تحاول إقناع المجموعة الدولية برؤية أميركية لوقف النار, هي رؤيتها تقريبا, تشمل بين ما تشمل وقف الصواريخ وإنهاء "الإرهاب" ووقف تهريب السلاح عبر معبر فيلاديلفيا وكبح قوة حماس المتزايدة عبر اتفاق بإشراف دولي.
